The Curse of Ethanol
CNN had produced a special program – something like “You’ve All Been Warned” – that enumerated all of the disastrous consequences of maintaining Global dependence upon Oil. But the Story seemed to point toward the conclusion that Ethanol, that is ‘oil’ distilled from grains and other foodstuffs, would or should be the answer to this world shaking problem. But one wonders what their political agenda is, these News People who promote new industries, and that they intentionally hide almost the very first of evil consequences of their beloved Plans.
So let us look at it – when the Price of Energy becomes so high that vast proportions of agricultural acreage or diverted from Food Production to Energy Production, then what are we all going to eat? Already, as the Population grows and spreads, agricultural land has been diverted to residential uses. Now we hear the Drumbeats to roll up more land away from Food Production.
Yes, it is true, from a Capitalist standpoint, that Grain was more than plentiful. Indeed, they were burning grain, not long ago, to keep the Market Prices up. America had been subsidizing Farmers not to grow certain grains in order to maintain an artificial scarcity, again to support Prices. They were even shipping some of this grain off to Africa, and other Regions too impoverished to buy it off of the International Market – Charity was at least as effective as burning it, if not as easy. But since the new Ethanol Policies, is it not more than a coincidence that the Starvation Rates have been going up on the Darkest Continent.
But the largest concern should not be with the worst of the entirely dysfunctional economies, as they were total losses anyway, but the problem will be with the Developing Economies which are struggling along with Per Capita Earnings of maybe several thousand dollars a year. If the Price of Energy levers up the basic price of foods, then what these People make a year will be insufficient to feed them, and Starvation as an ordinary condition will spread from Africa into Asia and the Americas. Well, perhaps that is the Plan, or the secret side of it – that America’s Plan for Globalization and One World Economy involves eliminating those populations that it suspects would be difficult to integrate and assimilate – nothing ‘intentional’, but just those pesky Market Forces doing their Job.
But there may be a possible Blessing mixed with this Curse of Ethanol. Everybody knows that Global Warming will certainly melt the Polar Caps, and that the Seas will rise. Well, the solution there would be to retain all Fresh Waters – bottling up river estuaries and such – and diverting them to inland reservoirs – effectively draining the Ocean. Well, once all of that fresh water is inland, it might occur to somebody to put it to use. It could be used to irrigate new crops, and in new ways. You know, I often wondered of the apparent inefficiencies of growing crops upon only one level – the ‘ground’ level. With the Sun traversing the Southern Sky, it certainly would be possible to build High Rise Agricultural Complexes, with Southern Exposures that could produce a thousand times the yield of some flat piece of land the size of which it sits. And these High Rise Agricultural-Complexes would retain much of the water that would otherwise be raising the sea levels. We would be solving Two Major Problems with one Innovation. Or perhaps three – if the World could produce significantly more Green Plant Matter, then the Atmospheric Levels of Carbon Dioxide would drop and all of this scary Global Warming business would become a historical footnote.
