Well, actually, Leo, judging by your "Pedophilia - Fates Worse Than Death Exaggerated" thread, that ain't far off.Quote:

I've moved this to extended discussion. Let's try to keep things civil people.
The way it is supposed to work is that the higher you go the more sercert and more elite it becomes. At the bottom almost anyone could join, and as Leo said they are just pawns and know nothing. Then the main theory goes, most of the "secret" organizations are really just different parts of the same main organizations. At the bottom level the people don't even know that. They just follow along with the people who are pulling the strings and they don't really need to know it.
So that is the reasons everyone would say its just like a club or something, because they don't know better. Its very possble that most people in it could actually believe its a club and it can still be the big evil taking over the world organization that some people believe. The way it goes is that you have to get higher up untill your like the ceo of a major corperation before you know any of the real sercerts, and even then you never know everything. The way it supposed to work is that no one ever knows who the leader is. They have someone they think is a leader but that person answers to someone higher up. That way theres probably 100's(1000's?) of people who think they are near the top but are likely not even remotely so.
Atleast thats what a lot of people believe. I am not a freemasion and I am definitely not the leader of it, so I wouldn't know. Don't dismiss Leo just because it sounds ridiculous though. Sounding ridiculous doesn't make something less true, there are some really strange things in the world. Infact if you want to google it you will find a lot of stuff to back up the claims. Infact you will find some even more bizarre stuff if you look far enough into it.

See, now, that's EXACTLY what the leader of a secret organisation WOULD say...
I'm keeping my eyes on you.

ok, i suppose i should come clean. i am actually a Mason myself. i only joined about 2 or 3 months ago, so i really don'tknow much about them. part of the reason i joined is because i am fascinated by the idea of a "secret" society. i want to learen about them, and learn their secrets, and it seemed like the best way to do that was to join them. in my local lodge, there are a whole bunch of old guys (50 up to probably 80 or 90), but there is also a pretty good chuck of young guys (28 and under). no one in between, though. it's been pretty interesting to see what everyone on here thinks about them. i guess if there is a secret conspiracy by the Masons to take over the world, i wouldn't know about it. i'm not even a full member yet. i don't have a dues card or a ring. i've got my second degree, which is like an "intermediate" Mason, i guess. better than just a first-degree n00b, but not a full-fledged member yet. i figure if there is a secret conspiracy to take over the world, i might as well be a part of it, right?
docthory, if i remember from some of your past posts, you're a mormon, right? do you live in utah? and what lodge does your dad belong to?
My grandad was a freemason and just to let you know the whole hand shake thing is made up and just a rumour. The freemasons aren't as bad as most people think, infact they donated more money to the tsunami then most charitys.
My Grandfather is a Mason. My Grandmother also used to be in Eastern Star, the female verson of the Masons. However, Eastern Star is the biggest bunch of sexist shit.....They couldn't have a meeting without a man present. Eventually she quit, but why she ever got involved with it still remains a mystery.
my stepdad is a mason. he's like the highest rank or something, 32nd degree i believe, i tihnk they call it "Prince of the Sublime Secret" or soemthing crazy like that... i do know though, there is a book that describes all the secrets of masonry in detail that i almost read but got kind of bored. its called "morals and dogma" you might wanna check it out if your really interested in masonry.
...idk ive got a mason ring. My teacher explained the Mason's as terribly boring rituals with many old men...not really what I'm into these days.
