How will it end? Will we distroy ourselves?
Will the planet kill us?
Will aliens kill us?
Will we never die, yet remain as an implacable living force that never ends, forever growing?
Or something much deeper...

I think it will become a red giant, engulfing the "inner" planets (?), then it will become a white dwarf. And our galaxy will crash into another one eventually. People aslo keep saying that there are going to be comets and meteors crashing, the electromagnetic field flipping, the ice age starting, there is also the 3rd world war. It's like a lucid dream, endless possibility. :)
Actually somebody before posted a site about end of world scenarios: Exit Mundi
Maybe another animal will evolve and become the dominant species on the planet in some sort of planet of the apes way?
There have been loads of scientists saying that comets were supposed to destroy the planet but they never did, even if comets were heading towards Earth, then Saturn's gravitational pull would probaby make the comets go off course.
Ice ages are supposed to happen every 15000 years or so I've heard, if this is true, then humans will be able to prepare for it.
That's because it's just eaten an ENTIRE HUMAN FAMILY!!!!!!!

Right now I am thinking it is ourselves that is the reason for our end. I don't even want to say it's the CO2 that we pollute the air with - to me it is the pressure at school and work and university ... in the end the pressure to have accomplished this and this and this - and if you haven't society tells you what kind of a FAILURE you are - you'll notice when applying for a job at the latest ...
The lie of each individual will get far too big for it to be able to live on in its pretendance as it does right now ..
Materialism could also be a reason ...
In the end .. I wish a fatty meteor would hit while I am high :P
Something lame wlll probably kill us. Like super aids. But I think the chance is Way bigger that we first have a few disasters that kill only 90% of the population before we get a disaster big and far-reaching enough to kill every bit of human life on earth.
I think that we'll kill most of ourselves off by Nuking or whatever, and then the remaining pockets of humanity will die off because of inbreeding.
No, really.
I dno about you guys but I dont plan on dieing......ever
Nuclear war is extremely unlikely. You've probably all heard of the MAD - mutual assured destruction theory.
For those of you too lazy to read the wikipedia article, the MAD theory says that the launching of nuclear weapons by one country would result in the other country returning an equal or greter force of nuclear weapons. Both sides would end up destroyed.
No country's government would be stupid enough to actually launch nuclear weapons against another. They are only there for the sake of making empty threats. Each country that has nuclear weapons only has them because so many other countries do - they would be left completely exposed without them. It is very unlikely that Nuclear weapons would ever be used in a full on "nuclear war".
A meteorite would be enough to do stuff to earth.
About the Ice age. It should be happening every 15 000 (?) years, but we humans decided to burn stuff, then having the green house effect and thus melting the ice that would stop the transatlantic water flow thing. Then europe would be covered in ice and america would be a desert. I heard that it has already started and that we should be seeing the effects in 50-100 years? I really don't know, I just repeat what I hear. :yumdumdoodledum:
I maintain my question: why does the world have to end?
I'm not saying it does.
what do you think will happen in the next several thousand (or million, or billion, etc.) years, Amethyst?
I predict that I will eat myself into a chocolate coma by the age of 30, and the world will see what's tearing itself apart.... :content:
Actually, I really can't say what I think will happen in the future, near or otherwise. I just think that history will continue to take the course it always had. Conflicts will be resolved only to be replaced by newer conflicts based on old arguements or discrepancies. Then those will be resolved and new ones will arise and so on and so forth. The types of problems probably won't change dramatically, no matter what the technology of politics are.
I'll keep my religious views out of this conversation, however... but we should all just eat ourselves into chocolate comas. Then we can bask in the glory of chocolate and free ourselves from all worry and despair :bigteeth:
'eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die!"
(well, actually tommorrow I'm going to ace my bio exam :P )
