Dylexia And Intelligence

Well if
1. Eintein is a dyslexic
2. Genius is genetic
Theirfore
3. Dylexia equals genius

In this modern day why is verbal intelligence more improtant then other intelligence like spartle or visual intelligence. It easy to pick on someone grammer using ad holm or their spelling, but does the way you express yourself with words determine your intelligence. Leonardo da Vichi was a good example because he was isolated from the scientific community because he didn't write in latin also he wrote backwards. I would say politician are a good sign of people without intelligence doing good because of verbal skills, however president Bush is a bad example. JFK was dump in my books, however he looked nice.

I am dyslectic. However, just because I suck at spelling and such, doesn't mean I am smarter. I doubt there is a correlation between dyslectic and intelligence. Maybe dyslectic just gets noticed faster with smart people. Also, what is the real difference with smart people that suck at spelling and smart people that suck at math? Why isn't there a word for that?

Anyhow.

Left-handed people also are all genius!!1 Leonardo da Vinci was left-handed! So was Einstein!!11 Ect.

Thats my point that you can't judge intelligence by how good somebody writes.

IQ tests are racist or biased so they can't measure intelligence. So I can't see how you can possibly determined someones intelligence.

Actually, IQ tests only measure the problem solving element of intelligence. There are many other forms of intelligence as I'm sure you realise. How are IQ tests "racist of biased"?

Cultural biased is strong in IQ test. Unless you get a really abstract test like pattarns. If it can only do problem solving elements then wouldn't a IQ test be a poor measure of intelligence. We still left with a crappy measure of intelligence that is heavily culturally biased.

As I said, IQ tests aren't exactly a measure of intelligence, as such, but a measure of the ability to problem solve. And a large portion of IQ tests involve patterns. Can you please explain why IQ tests are culturally biased? I don't quite understand.

Let me put it this way:
1+5 = 6, but 6 isn't always 5+1. It can be 4+2, 3+3, etc.

Because Einstein was dyslexic doesn't mean dyslexia makes you a genius. Because a car is red doesn't mean all cars are red.

I don't think we should realate the way you write to your intelligence, I think it's turning the problem the other way round...(like thinking that all the worse school pupils are geniuses)
Though I think you need to be slightly (if not totally) crazy to be a genius...

Yes, IQ tests are silly. There isn't a single form of intelligence, there are just about infinitely much forms of it.

Yes, there is some cultural bias (depending on where the test is made and who is taking it), but you seem to just spout that piece of 'information' out.

You also said that IQ tests are biased. This is incorrect. IQ has nothing to do with general knowledge and a real IQ test will not ask you any questions related to general knowledge. Intelligence and knowledge are different. A good IQ test will test various different aspects of intelligence: spatial intelligence, mathematical intelligence, linguistic intelligence, not just the single one.

The reason people think you are unintelligent is not your typing: it is the fact you are a prat.

I mean, seriously, why is everyone thinking so absolute? Maybe there is somewhat of a correlation between dyslexia and intelligence. But that still doesn&#39;t say jackshit, it may not be directly related. I am sure that in some countries you can say white people are smarter then black people based on IQ test, purely because black people have crappy education and white people do not. That goes beyond ethically biased IQ-tests: good education and training will make you score higher on IQ tests. Also, I am sure people TRY to make IQ-test as un-biased as they can, but a perfect IQ-test is impossible.

Anyhow, I am sure there are some studies on this subject, look them up instead of saying "omg teh dylectic pplz are teh genious&#33;&#33;1" or "lol ur teh n00b speller, dylectia is 4 retardz" or something like that.

Personally, I don&#39;t care. Being right handed makes me a retard, because Leonardo Da Vinci was left-handed. I think I am going to drop out of school, what use does it have? :0 *sarcasm*

Why because people don&#39;t understand using well if before provided logic it means it is a probabillity, and not a fundamental thing like all dyslexic people are geniuses.

This topic is interesting, and will continue to remain interesting if people remain civil to one another, or it&#39;s going to end up getting locked, and that&#39;s a shame.

Whether you&#39;re dyslexic or not has no bearing on your intelligence in my opinion. It&#39;s all down to how you let things affect you, and what you do with what you&#39;ve got.

My boyfriend is dyslexic, it didn&#39;t get discovered until his last few years of schooling. Teachers constantly thought he was slow, lazy or stupid. He got five good GCSE&#39;s and went on to university to get a 2:1 in Film studies. When i asked him how he did it, he said &#39;i didn&#39;t let it hold me back.&#39;

Ok, so sometimes he spells things wrong, or gets letters backwards.
He&#39;s very creative, and has a very artistic nature, a vivid imagination. It&#39;s said that dyslexics use a different side of their brain, i&#39;m not sure how true that is, i don&#39;t reckon creativity is anything to do with it, some people are just more creative than others.

He&#39;s also left handed. He&#39;s no cleverer or stupider than the next person, he&#39;s just himself.

you can&#39;t generalise and say that someone who has any form of learning difficulty is cleverer or stupider than the next person. You can have a great brain and no common sense.
