Angry at Judicial System
Grrr. I'm just venting some pent up frustration at the juducial system in the U.S. With some high profile cases this summer with the whole Paris Hilton thing and Lidsay Lohan, I am very angry at how things work in America. These celebs get special treatment when they do something wrong. Paris was on probation, and then got a DUI. she was only given get a house arrest after this. This angered so many people that the circus that is the LA prosecutors office had to retract that offer and she had to go to a slap-on-the-wrist prison for a half sentance. If this was any regular person, they would have had to have done the entire thing w/o any of the bs.
Now on what I am angry about myself is my situation with being caught drinking while I was at school. I was just walking home and a public safety officer(a step above a rent-a-cop) pulled along side me and asked me some questions. I didnt have anything with me, so I dont know what the big deal was. The guy was a prick and didnt listen to a thing I said. He gave me a $200 ticket and I had to go to court. So recently, I hired a lawyer, which cost me $500, to represent me. He talked with the prosecutors office and we now are able to settle it outside of court. I've got to pay a fine of like $200 for it to go away.
So what I am trying to say is that this system is so messed up and needs to be fixed. They only want their money. What happened to me could have been avoided. The people on campus let drunk people go all the time. They really dont care if I did it, all they wanted was me to pay my dues to the government. All of this is gonna cost me almost a thousand dollars for some minor offense that is not even going to show up on my record. Man I'm pissed. With all the stress this has caused me, I just dont know why this happens at all.

Any part of the system where lawyers make lots of money is inherently flawed (e.g. the medical malpractice field).

Yes. The lawyer costs more than the actual fine. Greanted he saved my ass, but come on, he made a phone call.

Well that is the flaw with democracy. People abuse their power which is why our leadership is faulty and lawyers make so much money. The alternative is giving one person control and them telling you what to do so I'll stick with democracy. One problem with America is that people don't care any more about politics and don't keep their elected officials in check and get them the heck out when they are corrupt. There are alot of moron judges in the US and Bush is too busy helping illegals and forming alliances with Canada and Mexico to pardon people like border patrol agents who do their job then get sued by illegals who are then given cards to stay in the US for their trial. I also don't get why people are obsessed with celebrities and have them as idols. There are some good ones but the only ones in the news are the ones who party and get drunk and break laws and get treated special. Wow i sound like the talk show hosts I listen to.
