You think that's bad? We have the freaking queen of England on our money, we're not even in the UK!
I couldn't care less. I don't have nearly enough of it to be that picky. Maybe once I'm a billionaire, I can start demanding that my $100 bills are customized.
Yes, we should have the right of freedom from religion.
(And I think it's time for a revolution to get rid of that monarchy!)
No way. The USA is a Christian nation, and it was founded on Christian principles by hardcore Baptists who demanded that the obviously true religion be crammed down the throats of everybody in God's favorite country. The only thing that should change is that the currency should use God's more specific name and say, "In Jesus We Trust". It would not be saying which Jesus, so it would be fair to everybody. Atheists and polytheists are not real Americans, so they can just go back to the dark ages somewhere else and throw rocks at mammoths.
I voted "Yes".
UM, are you getting ready for when Ron Paul wins? Sounds like you're practicing.
What?
I'd be much more offended if I were a Christian. I would suppose putting God's blessing on what is supposedly to be the root of all evil undermines the very religion it is supposed to support(. Can you imagine the outcry if people put that phrase on guns?
You guys also have "God bless America"...
I’ve found it kind of ironic actually. money has "gods blessing" on it but its used , among other things, to finance wars and firearm sales. just as its ironic that the holy land is the most violent place on earth
and "one nation under god"
I couldn't care less. Maybe if we fix our economic policies first, then we can worry about it.
I said I couldn't care less. In an ideal world, it wouldn't have been put there in the first place, but I think removing it now would cause the fundies to think they were being attacked or some crap.
p.s. let's not take this thread off topic by pretending you don't know what I mean by "fundies" :P
I think it sets a dangerous precedent. Every time the fundies want to take us a step closer to theocracy, they say, "But we already have God's name on our money." They mention the other unfair things they already have too. I think religion needs to be cleaned out of government function 100% completely to the point where all that is left is a sparkling shine.
I don't know why, but I could not come up with what song that is from. I kept trying to place it and finally gave up and Googled it. It's from "The Joker" by the Steve Miller Band. Dammit!

I still don't know what it means.
Guess that brain cell died, hmm?;) I had it stuck in my head all night long after that, thanks to Mark.
Watch this repeatedly until you understand.

It should most definitally be removed.
A while ago, my Dad found a really old copy of his family tree, and at the top was a family coat-of-arms, with "In God We Trust" written in Latin underneath. Turns out it's an old family motto ... but that's irrelevant as it doesn't answer the question and i'm not even American ...
"STFU, Duck," said Adam, looking up from his tabloid newspaper while puffing a fine Cuban cigar. Super Duck drew a tear and climbed into a dumpster, with the intention of hiding and never coming back out.
Definitely should be removed, both from the currency, the anthem, the allegiance statement, in any country. This is fortunately not dictatorship we're dealing with, people. Adding the reference to a god in anything that concerns a whole country denies dueful freedom to its citizens. I don't wanna sound extreme, but this is akin to the Nazi beliefs (why is the Aryan case different from the monotheist one?)
