...o.o Cause your loved and I'm sure your family would miss you? Don't kill yourself O'nus.
Cuz of people who would be really sad if I died. If I was alone somewhere, a bum on the street with absolutely nothing, then meh there probably wouldn't be a reason to live.
You might aswell go right ahead.
Well, if you are disregarding the sadness of your mommy if you died, there may not be a reason to not kill yourself, but there is no reason not to just go ahead and live too.
You could use as a reason to live your quest to find a reason not to commit suicide. There may be a flaw in your reasoning that there is no reason not to commit suicide, so you could spend your time looking for it.
Maybe that is what you are doing right now?
Can I have your TV?
I would suggest that there are so many thing to see, people to meet, experiences to have and beauty to see in the world that killing your self seems a little bit of a waste.
Maybe a reason to not kill yourself is just a matter of simple existence or make some kind of impact, a difference even if its only to one person.
Although you could say that if you killed your self what would that matter? but then thats the same for any other reason ie family and friends if your dead what does their feeling mean?..... nothing
Its a interesting question you ask.
the world would be worse off without me
You need me
Because you can't see into the future. The uncertainty helps. Picture yourself trapped in an immense desert. You might give up on finding your way out. Now, picture yourself trapped in an equally immense desert, but with lots of large sand dunes. Now, you can't ever see past the next dune. So, you'll keep going for a much longer time before giving up, because who knows what's behind the next dune?
It's kind of like how gambling addictions work. Yeah, you're down $200, but let's just try a few more quarters, etc. Live by induction!
Don`t do it, it`s what the Illuminati want!
▫It is against the law.
▫It is a greedy act?
Any thing you pose can be rebutted with the argument - who cares, I won't be here! unless you attach an afterlife.
▪Too scared
▪No quantifiable reason to.

It's the only thing keepin me going.
I don't feel like it?
If there is an afterlife, I'm not sure your local or federal laws carry over
Against the law to kill yourself? How does that make any sense? What do they do? Put your corpse in a holding sell? Charge you a fine that they'll take outta your back pocket as you lie face down? Not like you'll be using it anyway...
Greed is a whole different subject. You might not care when your dead, but you don't want to hurt those close to you by killing youself. Because its against the law is just stupid, I honestly can't believe there is a law against killing yourself. Its an impossible law. No one gets charged or arrested because they were about to jump off a building, and I don't think they do when they go kersplat either.
Why to not kill yourself? Because we're alive. Higher power or no Higher power, we have life. Whether it was a product of some divine being, or of evolution, we have life. Why not do with it what you will? Utilize it. Frankly, I want to die. But I also want to live. I'll die when the time comes, until then live life the way you want to and enjoy it. I want to die because when I die I get to see what, if anything, is beyond this life. Until then however, I should enjoy the life I have. Just because I want to die doesn't mean I should off myself, nor does it mean I'm unhappy or incapable of living happily. Live life until the time comes, and then embrace that time. Enjoy life as much as you can, and utilize it.
As far as I know it is considered an unlawful act to attempt and not succeed. What is more sad than anything, the people who ATTEMPT suicide are the ones often crying out for help.
If I really wanted to die, I can assure you it would be a done deal. I can spare the details.
You use words like enjoy, embrace and we have life. What do you tell a person that does not give life the same merit as you. I'm not disagreeing with you Exo, but the question is relevant.
i think because once its done you cant get it back. i'm still quite early in the game and i want to see what i can do with it before i decide i dont want it.
Where's the logic in such a deterrent? "Man, maybe I shouldn't kill myself. They'll kill me if I do!" :bang:
Ack, I edit my above post in response to yours Howie and there are 3 more replies. I'll move it down.
Oh trust me, preaching to the choir. I actually don't give life too much merit, I just do with it what I can. Admittedly I'm pretty miserable, and pretty pessimistic about a lot of things and have almost no hope for this world. So I'd say the same thing that I firmly believe, if life sucks, try and change it. It may seem hopeless because you're just one person, but there are others that think the same way. A united effort to change things will get things done. We can't see the future, and so while things may suck now, ending it all destroys even the slightest possibility of an enjoyable future. If your life sucks, do something about it. Either to try and fix things for the world, or to simply fix them for yourself. Giving up is a cowards way out, its easy. Its simply an excuse not to give any effort because that would take... well, effort. While they're may be very little hope for this world, or one may believe there is very little hope, not trying, just giving up and not taking the initiative to attempt to better things is hypocritical. By complaining about how little hope there is for the world and then saying "Fuck It all," shows that one can be just as much a part of the problem despite how much they hate it. On the other hand, you might hold the Darwin Awards motto true in that situation...
However, I don't think everyone suicidal is a coward. Please don't get me wrong in that. Some people are depressed and in an irrational state, can't think clearly and really don't want to do what they're about to, but can't help it and do need a friendly hand to hold theirs. There are smart people who are good, helpful people in the world who can break down and almost collapse under all the pressure. So, that said, to every rule there is an exception.
Sorry. :?Quote:

For logic to have the death penalty as an unlawful act = If you have a new agreement with regards to a living will, then killing yourself would abolish the agreement and they consider this illegal.Quote:

Those are just a couple of the arguments I have heard. Really, I do not know if there are more or if those have any merit in court or what.
It some aspects, it all seems a bit unreasonable.
I understand this concept.
We always have options as long as we are healthy. If you do not like something about life, change it or get away from it. I am away from almost everything :) I hate society but not mankind; I hate what he has become, and am happy to dwell alone because it is my one choice; though alone is a term of perception.
There comes a point when we get sick though. If I ever cannot take care of myself than I think suicide is justified. I will die with dignity before I live without it. If I ever get bad cancer for example, perhaps I will climb Everest with just shorts on.
Since I said so :P
I would rather die doing something I enjoy than wait for the slow hand of cancer to rot me away while others take care of me.
A reason? Well I dont kill myself because I want to give life a try, because I am living it right now. I dont know whats going to happen after I do die. So whether it's going to be bad or good, it's going to "happen" until I die. I'm going to die eventually anyway, so then I'll see what death is like.
On a completely random note - Death will be coming till the day I die.
On another - Im already dead.
Because I enjoy life.
Those who don't shouldn't kill themselves because they have the prospect of someday enjoying it.
Those who neither enjoy life nor (think that they) have the possibility of doing so in the future are those who commit suicide.
It's up to the person. If someone wants to kill themself, I just say, "have fun". I don't want to kill myself because I enjoy my life and too many people depend on me, and my family loves me. If all that changed, I still wouldn't kill myself because I am afraid of death. If I got over that fear, and my life was terrible, I would go on a killing rampage, then kill myself.
Cause I choose not to.
And cause I've never farted in the Queen of England's face, or gone streaking through the Auschwitz Museum, or tagged The Wall in Jerusalem. There's just so much I haven't desecrated yet.
But the point of Camus' statement is that life is an endless amount of pointless work, and if we're doing all this work for nothing, then why keep living? But why not keep living?
No you're not.
At least. I hope not. Or I'm in shit.

I am. :paranoid:
Because, bananna man.
As to laws against suicide.
Baker Act FTW!!!
if you are a danger to yourself or others, you will be held against your will in a facility until they deem you fit to return to society.
A minimum of 72 hours for those who are not "voluntary" which I have no Fing clue what that means...who the hell is "voluntary?
I dunno. What is the point of life? I suppose the only point to life is love...but who honestly finds that? Most often you end up clinging to someone, anyone, that will have you just so you don't die alone. After a few years you start to grow bitter and begin hating your partner untill finally you get divorced or (if not married) split up. Life is an eternal cycle of the same shit over and over again and the only reason people die is so that they don't have to live in this perpetual retarded existence we call life. Its so DAMN BORING.
I still need to try some shit before I kill myself.
Onus, great post btw. Lmao.
yeah so back to the topic...Quote:
Why should you not kill yourself?

by committing suicide i would neuter any further choice.
Stop cryin ye pansy.
Seriously, what is wrong with taking out a few child molesters on the way out? Life might actually be fun for a few minutes.
beacause a true nord never takes the cowards way out
