Everything is percieved. That is a granted. So, if you had skill over your mind, you could percieve anything you wanted. |

This may be a little random but in my thread it's probably excusable, but, this has been bugging me for a while... |

I'm intrigued. Why are you in Japan, when did you learn Japanese, how did you get there and are you a permanent citizen? What's your job there? Is it true that the Japanese are rather suspicious of non-Japanese? |

I wanted to come to Japan since my high school days, because when I came in high school they seemed to generally have a keen eye on flowing with the situation of those around them better than most self-centered americans which think the world revolves around them. That was one major reason I had disdain for America working my many service jobs (Bank teller, Retail store manager, etc.). Of course, moving to Japan opens it's own can of paradoxical worms unto itself because you will never truly fit in or be considered japanese no matter how well you speak or attempt to 'fit in'. The average japanese person hasn't really conversed with a foreigner so they say completely tactless things like, "Wow...you can READ a menu!!?!? OMG!!!" ...or... "You can eat SUSHI!?!?! OMG LOLZ!!"...or even better... "YOU CAN HOLD CHOPSTICKS!?!?!"... Let's just say after about year one... your patience with shit like that wears thin... |

Well this one sort of had it coming, but I still marvel at your ability to always drag a thread completely off topic, solskye. |

I don't think there is a method to the madness other than me just over-thinking things all the time, which isn't necessarily a good thing. I honestly think it's just something people naturally have the ability to do, or don't. I imagine levels of consciousness as these different sized bubbles. Some people have beach ball sized, while others have galactic sized consciousness. |

Interesting way of putting it, coming from another over-thinker. Personally, I'm not a fan having an active mind. In my case there's an incessant over-analyzing that comes as a byproduct of this extended consciousness, and it all tends to cause me unnecessary and counter-productive anxieties. |

Okay so through my research I have so far concluded that the training of the mind is possible, and that it can enable one to do all sorts of ridiculous things most people don't consider possible. I don't mean flying, per se, I mean like what SOlskye has trained his mind to do. The mind has various aspects of it that can be trained like a muscle, such as one's focus and awareness. With awareness, you can be aware of the inner workingsof your brain and system to the point of meticulous manipulation which can enable you to do a whole lot of things many people would also consider impossible such as run a marathon in a tundra through controlling your body temperature. |

Haha its all pertinent information, Vance. I'm not trying to derail your thread (though yeah I am trying to get a few answers for myself out of it). In fact when I said "more mental faculties available for anything" I was in part alluding to your other thread about having a drive to learn, but not knowing where to start. I've got a similar problem but quieting my thoughts helps me worry less about where to start and more about just starting something. |
