      Coup d'etat

I'm not normally much of a conspiracy theorist, but a little birdy put the idea of a coup in my head and the more I think about it the more it seems to make sense.

As you may know; the late patriarch of the Bush family, Prescott, was involved in an elitist plot to overthrow FDR and replace him with a nazi-esque government. He has also been tied indirectly to the nazi regime itself through a bank that he directed which was used to finance the german's side of world war 2.

He succeeded in a way, since his reputation was never tarnished and his son and grandson have both sat as presidents, but now it looks like it would be an excellent time to go all the way and seize complete control of the country. Sure, Prescott is dead, but his progeny don't seem to have fallen to far from the tree and they are in the prime position to fulfill the long awaited plans.

Its an interesting theory at least. Can anyone give me any evidence that shows this can't happen or is unlikely? Believe me, I would welcome some logical reassurance.

The ability to happily respond to any adversity is the divine.

If you're worried about a coup of the US government, you haven't yet grasped the nature of the system in its totality. You speak of Bushes taking over the government, as if Clintons or Obamas are any better. Or indeed, even Ron Paul. No single actors have any effect any more. That may have been true a century ago, but no longer. Now the machine has taken on a life of its own, in all its terrible bureaucratic beauty.

Do you realize that some retarded secretary in DC can accidentally hit the wrong key on a keyboard and turn you into an enemy of the state, thus destroying your entire life? Unless you're rich, you have little to no chance of appeal, and none of the agents of the state would ever listen to you if you tried to explain to them that you're innocent. It's the Nuremberg effect. The great monster of bureaucracy can swallow any of us at any time. And the scariest part is that no one really notices.

The government is God, and every day you don't actively fight it, it grows in power, for the powers of the government are all the powers not explicitly denied by its citizens.

Why is it that no one can respond in Extended without sounding like a pretentious dick who thinks they know better than everyone else? If you wanted to make crazy unsubstantiated claims that barely relate to the topic, go grab ranma minerva and cyclic and have yourself a nice little circle jerk.

If you would like to stay on topic and discuss like a normal human being, stop being a conceited prick and either; back up your claims or at least respond with something better than "you don't even know man! Whatever it is you said doesn't even matter! Don't you know that Hitler and the Legion of Doom are plotting to kill Jesus while Darth Vader is buying yellow cake uranium from unwed teenage mothers?"

Way to be civil. I never attacked you.

Anyway, I don't agree with those hippy idiots either. They live in fantasy worlds and think Bush is evil and aliens are secretly taking over the Earth. Right.

The sooner you realize that the picture is bigger and much more complicated than you think, the sooner you'll be open to the truth. The wise man knows that he knows nothing.

What makes you think you know how complicated I think the picture is? You would do well to listen to your own closing admonishment. Like I said, stop assuming you know better than everyone else.

You're worried that the country could be taken over by the evil bureaucrats as opposed to the good ones. That's all the proof I need of your ignorance.

Now that I'm done laughing, I can respond in all seriousness. I've actually heard of this one before Xaqaria, but I haven't heard anything logically sound to refute it. Up until that link you posted...I had written it off as another conspiracy theory. The reason it isn't blaring across every major news station is self-explanatory though.

I didn't say anything about good bureaucrats. The fact that they are all the same is more reason to think that the coup will involve the whole lot of them. Get your head out of your ass and stop being so stubbornly self centered. I don't think I've ever seen you post in any thread without being a complete dick to someone.

Can you please explain how government would work if there wasn't a "coup"?

Do you know what a coup is? I'm beginning to think you don't.

A coup d'etat is a situation in which one branch of government seizes control of all other branches. In this case, it would be the executive branch taking control of the legislative and judicial, and by doing so, gaining full control of the military and police force. Even if the Bush administration doesn't do it, the next administration is being built out of the corporate elite of our country so it is not going to be much of a change. Although Prescott Bush was involved in coup plot, he wasn't the only one and many of the sentiments are spread amongst others that still hold a lot of power.

And my point is, even without a coup the government as a whole is an emergent evil entity. So it doesn't matter whether there's a "coup" or not.

I don't know about you, but I trust my representatives. Patrick Leahy (vt) is a good man who does a lot for this state and the country. Not everyone in the government is bad, and the good ones play a role along side the bad. I can't believe you were accusing me of thinking things were simple and of being ignorant while you sit their and expect me to choke down your childish black and white interpretation of the world and the systems that make it up.

Its okay, I wouldn't expect an angsty shortsighted anarchist to understand anyway.

He's no Anarchist. More Libertarian, I think.

Anarchist wasn't supposed to be an insult, he has said that he wants anarchy in another thread, and linked to a book on anarchy.

I didn't think it was an insult and my comment wasn't directed toward you calling him an anarchist. You called him a retard, and he called you a douche, etc, etc, etc.
