      Sea Shepherd Conservation Society

      Thoughts? They're the group of anti-whaling activists that are featured in the Animal Planet show Whale Wars.

      They hunt down whaling fleets and attempt to slow/stop their whaling by harrassing them or disabling the ships.

      I agree with them, as what the whalers are doing is illegal under international treaties, and if no government enforces the law, non-government entities have the legal right to step in and prevent this from happening.

      I think in a year or so(when I'm more fit and done with my current degree) I'm going to apply to go on a campaign with them.

      before someone comes in here with wild claims and accusations...

      the sea shepherd crew does throw things at the whalers. some are powder packets that make the floor slick and unsafe to work on (thus halting the whaling operation). the other is a rancid packet meant to make the whale meat inedible, and also making everything smell horrible. the more you wash, the more you spread it.

      the Capt makes a good point when he gets called a terrorist "look at what we use, and look at who has the guns'. he got shot while fighting the japanese whaling fleet. the bullet hit his vest right over his heart, a kill shot, all caught on camera.

      Capt Watson is a fucking hero. he and a few others halted the whaling operations of entire countries. if it wasn't for them, there'd be no one looking out for the sea, as the new incarnation of greenpeace tends to avoid conflict.
