People have little faith in the government at the moment. Which is understandable, the FDA is well known for being bought off by large companies. So the idea that the people creating the vaccines may pay them off, and allow untested drugs into the system, is a fairly normal one.

The FDA has all the problems with genetically modified food as well. Everyone is up in arms over them, and they refuse to even test them for safety. So when they say that thiomersal is generally untested yet they are giving people shots with the stuff in it, warning flags go up all over.

Even if you want to make the claim that ethylmercury is a lot different than the normal mercury one sees, that doesn't make it safe. You can't just assume stuff, which is why people would like it studied instead of just assuming.

To want it studied is one thing. But to affirm you won't take the vaccine in any circumstances is just plainly stupid. You think mandatory vaccines are bad? You should visit a country with mandatory religion.

Most people are not saying they won't take it under any circumstance. They said their not taking the flu vaccine next year. Which is one specific circumstance.

Kromoh, im not sure if you know this but, forcing a vaccine on someone is a violation of the geneva conventions, and international law.

And its immoral...I for one will not be getting any vaccine, and if it becomes mandatory I will avoid that no matter what the cost is, nobody can tell me what or what not to do, especially some dickheads in a suit 7000 miles away who I don't care if they have a stroke this minute and keel over and fall down the steps by accident and get accidentally run over by a firetruck.
I would rather die on my feet then to live on my knees.

Hmm. Which convention or law, specifically..?
      And its immoral...
I know swine flu isn't particularly serious, but I don't think controlling disease can ever be called 'immoral', even if it is forced upon people. Quarantines for example are a rather macabre solution superficially but in reality you'd have to be mad to oppose the idea.

Oh people, it is a vaccine we're talking about, not obligatory organ donation. Stop being such asses. It won't harm you.

      I knows it. :V

I really don't know why this whole swine flue thing has the conspiracy nuts so up in arms to be honest. It's just like any other routine vaccination. Fried viruses, oh Lord no...

wow, okay, go get your shots, don't come crying when you have gulf war syndrome.

I'll combat this joke of a flu the natural way, with my immune system. the way nature intended, not with all these phony profit making drugs which harm more then they help.

Yes, nature intends for you to get viruses. It then intends for you to die if necessary so it can weed you out of the gene pool. gg.

Xei, having a vaccination forced on you is a world away from a quarantine. If you have a certain viral infection, a quarantine is placed on you and everyone who has it in order to protect everyone who is not infected from you. A quarantine would only be placed if the virus were serious enough to begin with. Being forced to take a vaccine forces you to protect yourself. We should have the personal choice available of whether or not to take a vaccine that has not been tested and may or may not be dangerous against a virus that may never pose any threat at all.
Surrender your flesh. We demand it.

There is a large number of reasons to oppose it. First being that it costs a ton of money and is a huge waste of money. Second, forcing people to get it is totally unneeded and is all about the government trying to flex its power to control people. And lastly because they rushed it, and people are worried about them making mistakes while rushing it so quickly.

All of them are very practical and reasonable reasons to not like the idea at all.

Then you add in the concerns that the vaccine isn't even for the flu strain that it is supposed to be protecting against and stuff like that, and its just silly to say everyone has to take it.

Tons of money? It's not like you have what to complain. This is not an African country we're talking about.

Forcing people to take a vaccine is a very waste of power abuse, I'd myself much rather force all people to undergo circumcision or something like that, much cooler.

Rushed it? You certainly don't know what scientists can do with very little time. What makes science slow down is not the lack of time, but the lack of money.

The only reason to dislike it would be a possible plan to give public money to companies.

Conspiracy theories suck. If they really were credible, they wouldn't have that name.

Finally, conspiracy theories are a much worse form of control than a damn vaccine. Fear makes people do things.

Where does it say officially that the vaccine will be mandatory for the general population?

The only details i could find on government sites all went along the lines of this:

      Washington Dept of Health
      July 17, 2009
      http://www.doh.wa.gov/swineflu/faq.htm
Will H1N1 (swine flu) vaccinations be mandatory?
No; no vaccine is mandatory. Once the vaccine is developed and tested, we will encourage people to get it but it will not be mandatory.

Centers for disease control and prevention:
      Aug 3, 2009
      http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccinati...ion_qa_pub.htm
      Q. Will vaccination against the new H1N1 influenza be mandatory?
      A. CDC and ACIP (The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which provides advice and guidance on the control of vaccine-preventable diseases) will make recommendations for who should receive H1N1 vaccine, and state and local health departments and institutions will determine how to implement these recommendations. If the vaccine is recommended for use, those who choose vaccination for themselves or their children will be screened for contraindications to vaccination (such as an allergy to eggs ) and will receive information sheets describing the vaccine’s risks and benefits, possible adverse events associated with vaccination, and how to report these events.

guys can we stop with the damned personalness of this, everyone obviously has a different perspective on this topic, nobody will agree.

The part when you said you would want to force circumcisions was extremely disturbing, the fact that you think its moral to force ANYTHING on another human being without their consent is draconian and nuts.

I wonder what they are spoonfeeding you kids in schools today, glad i graduated a long time ago.

[ I thought- hoped- he was being sarcastic. Sort of like a parent who tells their kid if they don't stop whining, they'll give them something to cry about. ]

But I agree. There are some topics people will never see eye to eye on.
There's nothing wrong with a spirited debate, but bashing should never become part of it. Agreeing to disagree doesn't make one side stronger or weaker than the other. You just can't change some people's mind about some things so after awhile I feel both sides have made their points and should move on

My hubby's not concerned about the mercury in the "vaccines", and I couldn't remember the thing in it y'all pointed out which starts with "t" lol
He's concerned about something that starts with "s" I'll have to ask him later what that word was and tell him what y'all's was.

Medical/scientific terms tend to become a jumbled mess in my brain

Ok, so whether you believe it to be good or bad for you, necessary or unnecessary, whatever. How can you evade a forced vaccination? Personally I think its all a huge scam that we'll all pay dearly for (possibly with our lives). Also, I live in the states... Thats just why I'm asking.

Well im assuming you can just stay home and avoid cops/hospitals/government jobs or medical jobs.

If a vaccine really were mandated many would not show themselves anywhere, like me....im an expert at hiding away...videogames!
