I've perused that site in the past. It's a stealth marketing website setup to arouse interest in the "2012" movie.

Watch this and pay special attention to 1:00. Recognize him? Yep, hollywood film.



Great viral advertising, just like Cloverfield.

Lets be honest, if there was some real shit going down on 2012 then we would be making precautions long before now.

2012 is probably going to be the end of the US.

Obama was elected at the end of 2008 right? And presidents only last for 4 years unless re-elected right? 2008 + 4 = 2012

But for a more serious reason, We're like 11 trillion dollars in debt and we're basically screwed.

The website is part of a viral campaign, like the MNU sites for District 9. It is quite deceptive though

Yep, at least quadripled the projected debt to ~$11,000,000,000,000 (Give or take a few $1,000,000,000,000), and not even one year has passed...
That is a pretty disgusting number, but why not add another $3,000,000,000,000 for healthcare ?

Saw a commercial for this last night while watching SyFy (stupid name-change ). They made it look as much like a PSA as possible. Luckily I noticed the fairly well-hidden info indicating that 'this is a movie', otherwise I was about to freak out. Not over the alleged end of the world, but over the would-be fact that the government has the audacity to try and scare even more gullible idiots with even more apocalyptic, Y2K-esque bullshit hype.

I don't even really know how the 2012 myth (yeah, that's all it is - a myth) came about, but it's a crock of shit. End of story.
