When I said 1-3%, I meant those identifying as being "openly gay." No doubt, there are a lot of people still in the closet or are else unsure of their sexuality.

There's a bit of a joke that Cambridge is supposed to be full of gays... and actually now I'm here that seems to be pretty substantiated. In my college at least, I'd say maybe 20% of the guys identify as gay or bi. It's mental really... perhaps gay people are on average more intelligent or something.
Or perhaps it is that more intelligent people are more likely to be atheists and therefore more likely come to certain conclusions through critical thought that would break down the mental block of which gender men are approved to have sex with within a given society.
Good point actually, the causation could go either way.
Although in the UK religion is very rarely a barrier to homosexuality I'd say.
I'm sure someone has said this, but your paranoid. if anything, this is a good thing- We're an overpopulated species with all these cures and shit, so the limiting factors are-well- limited. Our population is way off the natural balance.
