I just found this today. Maybe this is the speech that got him killed? In it, he makes some strong accusations of the entire U.S. government supporting Hitler and some other things saying that the government is exploiting the economy.

I would have to agree with you Hard_Wired. I read the speech on paper a long time ago and thought about that. I don't think it was his beliefs in equality that got him killed, but his beliefs in peace. Such an influential person speaking directly against a matter that the government is involved in was probably his undoing. A lot of people get the misconception that Martin Luther King Junior was only about civil rights for blacks. He was about civil rights for everyone, and was a believer in peace, being influenced by the likes of Gandhi. And on that note, I'll leave you with a quote from Rage Against the Machines song, "Wake up".
"They went after king when he spoke out on Vietnam. He gave the power to the havenots, and then came the shot".
I watched a documentary that mentioned MLK being secretly communist lol. It had pictures of him with members of the Communist Party in conferences etc, I didn't give it much thought tho because I'm not American so it didn't interest me all too much. Anyways if this was true that might explain his rant about your Government considering it is Capitalist.
I can't say how credible this documentary was though and I'm not trying to convince anyone of a conspiracy (that I don't care about lol) I'm just saying that it would explain that speech.
Also yes this speech could have strongly influenced the motive for his murder that and whole lot more I'd imagine.
I know how passionate some Americans are for MLK but please don't flame me - I'm just sharing a possibility not trying to give him bad press.
I heard something about King supporting democratic socialism. But I'm not sure how credible that is, I didn't look that part up.
King was against the Vietnam war. JFK was also against, he even had plans to withdraw the troops in vietnam. That's why I think he was killed.

but this was a very inspirational speech to oppose the Vietnam
War I thought. As I see it, there was actually a reason, why so
many people went on the streets in the late sixties and many great,
intellectual minds spoke out against that war.
And also, Martin Luther King wasn't an icon for only that one speech that is so famous now...
I mean he's known for his opposition to Vietnam (war), right?
MLK made a speech about America supporting Hitler? In 1967? The same Hitler they eliminated in World War II? Two decades prior?

Martin Luther King was a sniper in Vietnam. He shared a post with Mr. Rogers and John Denver.
And many people, who were in the Vietnam War at one point, were strongly
and whole-heartedly against it later. Like Martin Luther King, I suppose.
Also, Saddam Hussein was supported by the US government at one point
and was then bombed out of his hole and hung out to dry at another.

I don't even know why you would bring Hitler into the game. He (MLK) is speaking
of important things that are still prevailing to this day, even though he didn't
mention anything that I haven't already heard or read a few thousand times
before.
I still don't understand this Hitler thing. I can only assume it's supposed to
'shock'. So the United States were in support of 'someone, who idolized Hitler?'
So? This is even only indirect, the United States (as have European countries)
have been supporting dictators directly for quite a few times throughout history.
It's just generally much less about 'the dark side', but much more about political
and economical interests. And on a more global scale, that's the issue.
This is the problem I see with conspiracy. Even though much might be true,
you cannot use such a leap to argue a case from. Basically it is guessing the
big picture that could explain all of what's going on, but then people are
defending and attacking that guess and the issue at hand is lost.
And this is what's happening here. You have a decent speech. Which could
spark some interesting discussion, but you have to put Hitler into the title
and put in a link that will suck in all of the people's attention. Whilest the
real issue, in my opinion, is derailed yet again. And "America supports Hitler"
is just plain misleading.

This is fairly close to the truth; while right wing doesn't really encompass the whole group, they do exemplify it. We live in a world where the king/god is a violent (white) man. This is a cultural "truth" for many people. Many people are under the delusion that it is necessary for a Man(alpha-male) to be violent in order to keep all the bad people in order. They don't think of it in these terms, but somehow they have rationalized the fact that we live in a land where morality is enforced with immorality. Total insanity.
