      Water

"There are 128 ounces in 1 gallon. There are 4 quarts in a gallon. Divide 128 by 4 and you get 32. So there are are 32 ounces in 1 quart. Multiply 32 ounces by 2 quarts and you get 64 ounces in 2 quarts total."

My math sucks. I drink 6 16.9 ounce bottles of water every day.
      16.9 x's 2 = 33.8 ounces. So 2 bottles would = one quart, right?
      4 bottles would = 4 quarts which = 1 gallon? No, I see. 4 = 2 quarts. So 8 bottles would be 1 gallon?

      Is that too much water?
Since drinking all this water, I've been getting horrible headaches which last pretty much all day. I normally only drink 52 ounces of Coke (probably closer to 40 ounces Coke after the ice). I don't get headaches from caffeine withdrawal so that's not the cause.
Should I build up to the amount I've been drinking? Or just live with the headaches until my body adjusts on its own?

Also, I'm peeing all the freagin time lol. I've been having intermittent kidney discomfort, though. Is that likely because my body is flushing out more toxins or because of increased fluid or?

      Thanks

Yeah. And that would be it. I don't feel thirsty very often, so I'd nurse a monstrous fountain drink all day.
Now I force myself to chug water with my meals and in between. I'm also trying to lose weight so my calories level has dropped a great deal.

lol, I know, I know. It's been my only source of fluid for SEVERAL years now (about 10 years +)
I tried drinking tea and coffee, but I never liked anything much save Soda.
I finally found a water I like, room temp or Cold. It has no taste at all. It's called Crystal Geyser by CG Roxane. I get it at the Dollar Tree- 6 bottles for $1. which is terrific.
Now, I'd almost bet Dollar Tree will stop selling it lol. That's how it usually is for me...

6 bottles of water is 3L which is slightly high but not "dangerous". If you're peeing all day and not thirsty then I don't know why you drink that much. Also 52 ounces of coke is like half a pound of sugar, that's just asking for diabetes...

I feel the recommended daily amount of water is ridiculously high. At some point, your kidneys won't get the benefit because they've gotten all they can get already.

      Thanks for the replies

I'm drinking a lot of water to keep my appetite down. I'm trying to keep my calorie intake at below 2,500. I'm the queen of junk food and I used to snack all day. The water helps keep my munchies in check.

You average caloric intake should be around 2k (that's for the average person) if you're not exercising. If you still want to eat as much as you do, that's fine, you just need to do work that will burn the excess.. like hiking or running. Or fast walking.

As far as water goes it's good that you're staying hydrated, but you shouldn't be drinking to the point that it feels uncomfortable. If you continue to drink as much water, be sure you're getting enough sodium. You probably don't have to worry about that though if you're still consuming junk foods.

It is actually very difficult to drink so much that it hurts you. Though having a headache could be a sign of it(or of many other things). It might be you chugging it that is the problem, that much should be fine if you spread it out. Though drinking a lot all at once can be a problem. Keep in mind that a lot of food has water in it too, so its unlikely its your only source of water.

I posted once but it seems to have disappeared.

Puffin, for a year I lived mostly off of Slim Jims and Potato Chips. Top that if you truly are the queen

The headaches have gone away. So, if it was from the water, my body has finally adjusted.
The only "junk food" I allow myself (other than a few semi-sweet chocolate chips now and then) now-a-days are cracker sticks with cheese dip for 70 calories. Normally, most of the cheese would be left over because it's so salty. But now I crave it.

I have heard that you can drink too much water which is called water intoxication. Here is a good article on the amount of water you should drink daily and how much is too much. Enjoy!

I used to drink 2 or 3 64 ounce glasses of water a day plus juice and milk when I felt like it back when I smoked a lot. I never had any health problems, just had to pee all the time. now I probably drink about 70 and I just drink when I'm thirsty.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

The real problem is, you need to switch to the metric system. Seriously.

(drink enough water, but don't over-force yourself - and yeah, less soda is better)

lol- math is hard enough for me without switching things up. I think I'll stick to the system I barely know than one I'm completely foreign to.

      Thanks for the replies.

I've not counted calories for a long time now and I'm pretty much over my water binge. I still drink a decent amount of water, but I've added juice to my diet. One juice in particular has fruit chunks in it and is very good
After several gallbladder attacks, I'm also over traditional junk food for the most part. I've come to love veggie chips. Snyder makes a couple that I'm especially fond of- one with Canola Oil the other with Sunflower Oil. Hubby told me what Canola Oil is which grossed me out lol but the sunflower oil seems to give me heartburn, so....

Do you really need to drink water? I don't like the taste of water so I never drink it but I down 4 or 5 glasses of milk a day. Am I still getting all the fluid I need from the milk or do I have to actually start drinking water?

You don't actually have to drink water, since water is in pretty much every thing. Water may be the best source but it isn't the only source. Anything that is liquid is likely to have water in it, and some food even has water in it.

I've been told water is best because there's nothing in it. And some drinks can actually dehydrate you.
      But I don't really know.

Well soda, beer and coffee are not good for you, and they happen to be the major things people drink. Drinking fresh juices and tea and stuff is usually pretty good for you.

I pretty effortlessly down 2-3 liters of water per day, and since I started (6 months ago) I've noticed a huge difference in the...luminance? of my skintone. I simply look a lot more healthy than I did when I was addicted to coke and similar drinks. I simply kept a bottle of water next to me at all times, and drank whenever I felt like it. I did get the headaches you spoke of at the beginning, but it wasn't from caffeine withdrawal. It was from sugar withdrawal. It'll pass in time, trust me.
