Eyes - what exactly is this?

      - I close my eyes.
      - I look as far to the right as I can while my eyes are closed.
      - I then take one finger and press down into the corner of my eye, right where the pink is. I don't press really hard, but just enough to see a wierd, dark bluish circle to the right of my closed eyelid.

      What is this? O.O
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

The retina can be stimulated via pressure. You can do lots of trippy things with it. Isaac Newton stuck sticks in his eyes and saw rainbows.

Question: How did you figure this out? Were you really bored or something?

Anyway, that's pretty cool! I agree with Xei, although I didn't know anything about it before.

I rubbed my eyes one time and just figured it out.

I have also noticed it. I figured it was something along the lines of what Xei says. I wonder if it could have any application.

Well I guess that's the question.

I remember discovering this as a little kid, doing it for way too long too it reminds me of what you see when you degauss an old computer a little bit.

I've never seen colours doing this, only varying shades of grey, and black and white checkerboard patterns. Why so?

This reminds of something someone told me a few years ago. If you press the palms of your hand in your eye sockets you can easily visualize a few things

I used to do this when I was bored (with both eyes), I always figured it was the blind spot of my eye or something.
