Awesome. Nothing works better for motivation than DV holding you accountable for some progression! Speaking of which, I've been taking too much time off, I gotta hit the gym up today...

So post your pic, and we'll expect to see another in a months time

      Yeah sorry grasshoppa..

And nah, I don't bench..too scared to have so much weight dangling over my neck. I'll continue what I'm doing until December I guess then in January move on to biceps, and chest.

For the past 3 months I've been solely focused on core and for the past month I've been semi-focused on abdominals.

How is your progress coming along grasshoppa?

Before on the left, after on the right...

Can't say I'm impressed with myself. I've gained about 10lbs but still manage to look the same lol.

So I'm working on getting into shape, after not really doing anything for 20 years.

      Here's the start position:

So let's hope I can shape that up a little.

@Marvo - what's your goal??? add muscle mass? Or just improve fitness?
      LD GOAL LIST

      1) Re-live the D-day landings like in the opening scene in 'Saving Private Ryan'. Arrive by landing boat, storm the beach, kill me some Nazis.
      2) A prolonged flying experience through beautiful landscape/scenery
      3) Have a 'nice' time with Chery Cole and Nicole Schwerzinger

That photo doesn't quite show it, but I have a lot of excess fat that I'd like to get rid of, to start with.

I'd also like to build some more muscle, though not really anything crazy. I like parkour, and I've started practicing it with people, and while that does require some strength, too much muscle will just get in the way.

Ok, so what I would suggest is a three to four month CUT - followed by a slow lean BULK.

CUT - So the aim of a CUT is to get your Bodyfat % down as low as possible. Looking at your picture I would say you were around 16%+ bodyfat - none of your abs are visible. At around 13% your top two abs will become visible...then usually when u are below 10% you will have a visible 6 pack.
      This is me at around 10% BF;

I can't stress the importance of nutrition/diet when losing fat. People put soo much emphasis on the actual training and neglect the most important tool for losing fat. You don't need to starve yourself...just eat about 500 calories below your maintenance. Looking at your pic I would say your maintenance is around 2,500..so if you eat 2,000 calories a day you will lose roughly 1pound of body fat per week....slow and steady is the key. Obviously doing cardio will help the process.

Any questions about training/diet just ask

I think I have a decent diet, so should I just eat a little less every meal or what? Seems weird to me.

Thanks for the information about bodyfat

I have another question, the last 2 days my legs have been destroyed. I did some parkour training this wednesday and the days before that I had done a lot of running. Right now it's like I can barely squat without my legs collapsing. Obviously this has stopped me from running, but when can I expect my legs to get good again, and also how do I avoid this?

Regarding your diet - Everyone is different, you may have a higher or lower metabolism than the average person, so you need to experiment - stick with your current diet for 2 weeks - if you don't notice any change then you know you have to lower your calorie intake. What I would reccommend is a low carb high protein diet. Aim for no more than 100grams of carbs per day and around 150grams of protein. Counting carbs, protein, and calories can be annoying at first but you'll get used to it...and somewhat enjoy it.

Regarding your training - Sound like you may be OVERTRAINING. In order for you to get stronger/fitter you need to have rest. TRAIN - EAT - REST. If on monday you train your legs - running, squats etc then don't train legs again until atleast wednesday.

What training do you do each week?

I really just run. The parkour training consists of a lot of jumping and some leg training excercises that are like squats, except you squat on one leg instead of both.

Oh, and I didn't mean squat with weights on, I just meant bending my legs, crouching, or something. I don't train with weights.
