Immunization
I don't know about the rest of y'all, but there's a common cold strain going through my area, and with both kinds of flu looming in the distance, I'm looking to improve my body's defenses so I don't have to muck around with untested vaccines and a billion different cold/cough things.
What kind of vitamins and food would I want to focus on to boost my defenses? I know vitamin C is a big one for colds already. Any others?
Also, there is a vitamin/herb supplement called Airborne that I use whenever someone in my household gets sick. The RDVs on it speak for themselves, but is it really any better than a standard multivitamin?

Echinacea is good for your immune system, but only take it sometimes. If you know someone that is sick, take it. Don't take it every day as your body will build a resistance.
Garlic is a great immune system booster.
Spicy foods will make you sweat out toxins. Too much is bad for digestion. Do not eat these right before going to sleep.
Wasabi and horseradish will clear out your sinuses.
Sugar weakens your immune system.
Don't take my word for it, though. Do the research for yourself.

yea I am not getting a flu shot, because I am concerned about the safety of these vaccinations. People also need to understand that swine flu is no different then any other flu, and assuming that you are otherwise healthy, it is not deadly. A few days off from work/school and some vitamins and you'll be better.

Just ate some garlic and sent my mom to the store for some broth and oranges.
any other advice to ride this thing out?
