      Designing Diet

So I'm going to be living by myself in America in a few days, and i'll be in charge of my own diet for th first time.

I was wondering how to go about setting up a good diet for myself.
One that will give some good brainpower as i'll be studying loads - and one that will also give good energy for a mild cardio and weight lifting workout.

Any good diets I could go for.

I don't have much cooking experience but I'm willing to learn.

I can make scrambled egg, french toast, I can cook chicken breasts and steaks.

I'll have somewhere under $50 a week for food.

      I will eat anything.

      Thanks!

Man, I suck when it comes to knowing what to eat lol. Still learning. But if you can, maybe afford a Vitamin B supplement (not a multivitamin). A stressful lifestyle and lack of sleep may deplete your body of Vit B which in turn makes you feel tired and worn out.

And that's about all I know. I can't cook for beans lol.

Oh yes I forgot to ask about vitamins. Thank TamiDoll.

Anyone know any other vitamins I might consider taking?

      No prob. xP

So you already know vit B is for energy and stress relief.
Vit E helps with circulation (this will help if you get cold hands and feet), wound healing and is an antioxidant (this will help if you're residing in a compacted area with lots of pollution like the city).
You might consider taking Vit C (tend to be chewable lil tablets) if you get sick easily. This will help boost your immune system alot and lessen the severity of colds.

That's the only 3 I can think of that you might want to take.

But if you'll be eating all of the right foods daily, you can settle with a multivitamin (since it's a little of everything jammed into one). But if you're like me and can't afford everything daily, buy separate vitamins that you lack most.

Do you like vegetables? Because as far as 'good' diets are concerned, eating lots of fresh vegetables is the best thing you can do. It doesn't matter what you do with them, just eat lots of them. Make them the main part of your diet.

It's hard to suggest supplements without knowing much else about your diet, lifestyle and general health; but general supplements that people shouldn't be without: Vitamin D3, K2, and DHA.

If you want supplements that may help with brain power/studying there's choline, piracetam, centrophenoxine, and a lot more out there.

      Awesome, thanks again TamiDoll.

Oh! That reminds me, I forgot to mention that it is extremely important that I avoid colds as much as possible - As I am learning to fly and a blocked ear can halt training for many days. You have mentioned vitamin C - anymore?

I do like vegetables, and I will do, thankyou Val.

Yea, I understand that it is hard to give good solid diet advice since I am unable to give you information on exactly what I am going to be eating.

However thats the point - I'm starting anew, I will be choosing every single component of my diet and trying to design a really good diet for good brain power - good cardio health and more importantly - A good immune system.

No prob. I'm still learning about having a healthy diet myself. So that's all I know ATM when it comes to vits and nutrients.

I agree with .Val. though. Lots of fresh vegies, fruits (good fibre intake helps improve your digestive system and prevents constipation and may hold extra water) and meat (protein for muscle development) and try to stay away from all the highly processed stuff. Drink lots of water and I dun think you can really go wrong. xP
