Do you have hypermobility (are you "double-jointed")?
Do you do any activities that strain your shoulder?
Perhaps it's nothing more than "stiffness" but perhaps you have a weakening joint.
I'm glad I already googled this and bookmarked the page lol
I worry alot about something I learned to be called Subluxation.
Subluxation:
"Frequent subluxation is one. In subluxation, the shoulder may slip (sublux) in certain positions, and the shoulder may actually feel loose. This commonly happens when the hand is raised above the head, for example while throwing. Subluxation of the shoulder usually causes a quick feeling of pain, like something is slipping or pinching in the shoulder. Over time, you may stop using the shoulder in ways that cause subluxation."

I frequently (and often-times unintentionally) cause my shoulders and hips to "pop out of place". It's not a dislocation but "close".
I have Ehler's Danlos Disease though, so (of course) I connect such problems to hypermobility.
If it's new, getting worse or becoming more frequent, I'd see a doctor about it.
