Sons Weird Symptoms
He woke up on Wednesday, partially deaf. One of his ears was really clogged and driving him nuts. He had NO fever, so I gave him allergy meds.
The next day, the same ear was still clogged, only then he started having random pressure pain and random throbbing pain. Both never lasted long.
He still had no fever. In fact, his temp was LOW. 94.2 I gave him ear drops, an ear cleaning specialty "swab" thing and more allergy meds.
On Friday, he woke with a temp of 92.3. What the heck?! His ear wasn't any better. I took him to a clinic nearby, but they were booked. I took him to a clinic in town and they said his Medicade was "inactive" and they couldn't see him.
I couldn't take him to the ER. He feels otherwise fine. Sometimes his hearing becomes echoish and he also has off and on ringing in his ears. So, yesterday, I started giving him 500 mg Amoxicillian 3 times a day.
But it sounds like allergies to me.
He's convinced he needs his ear washed out by a doctor (which we can't do until the insurance issue is resolved and with the holidays coming up, that could take weeks *sigh*)
His temp is still running low (his normal temp is 98.6), but he's hot to the touch. He's always freezing. For it to be an infection is illogical to me. Infection = fever, right? Not hypothermia!
Any ideas?

Have him checked for both common and swine flu. Both can produce hypothermia as well as cause problems with the ear, without making you feel sick. It's uncommon, but it's not terribly rare. A co-worker of mine had swine flu and didn't even know it, but once she was tested she did remember having a streak of a week or so where she had problems with her ears and eyes.
I would use an antihistamine to alleviate the ear swelling, and rest, green tea, zinc, and vitamins B6 and E for the flu. As well as a visit to a clinic or Canada. A nurse is qualified to diagnose and treat swine flu as well, you don't need a doctor.

lol Superior... riiight :P
Thanks for the great advice, Ninja!
The "swabs" I got him are called "Clinere Ear Cleaners". On one side is a "brush" and on the other is a "spoon". I told him to take a hot shower to loosen the wax and showed him how to use the spoon side.
He was amazed afterward. He could hear a little better (he had a LOT of waxy buildup) but then the ear quickly closed again.
I've been giving him sweet oil drops for the pain. They work surprisingly well.
But I guess those things are just "bandaids".
I have the vitamins here as well as the antihistamines. I'll start him on those right away.
Thanks again.

I might know what it is. This is going to sound disgusting, but what doesn't in health :)
His ears may be clogged with ear wax, deep in his hear canal. This is a problem I had once. I woke up and thought I had gone def. Eventually my parents took me to the doctor and they cleaned it out with a syringe-thing. It has something to do with ear canal shape and hair within the ear (once again nasty, but still). You can buy over the counter clearer things, but they only help a little. It completely fixes it when the doc does it.
in the meantime. tell him to pull his ear lobe down or back. It is strange, but for me it took away the stopped up feeling as long as i held it like that.
