      Hearing voices

Somtimes i hear these faint voices in my head, but not with my ears, litarly in my head.

Like 3-5 people, they speak pretty fast so i cant make out what they say but i can say they seem to react to eachother and what im thinking. They yell (but its like the volume is put down) and are chaotic

What i want to ask is, is this normal??

No hearing voices is definitely not normal. It is not necessarily something really bad, but you need to see a doctor to rule out any of the serious causes.

I personally don't think its worth messing around when it comes to brain disorders. There is a large range of things that can cause hallucinations, so its really impossible to know the cause without seeing a doctor. It could be something really mild, or harmless, or something more serious. Normally even the serious stuff can be treated though, and its best to catch things like that as soon as possible.

I wouldn't worry about it, I've known of many people, including myself, that have this now and then, especially when tired. All perfectly sane people. =p

Everyone hears things once in a while. Though what worries me is that it sounded like its a reoccurring thing, which isn't normal at all.

If it happens when you are really tired, and before bed and stuff, that may be normal. Hearing things when falling asleep is normal, and expected when doing a lot of the dream techniques people on this forum use. If it happens when you are wide awake, that isn't good though.

Also if you do a lot of drugs, it can be a side effect of that. If you don't do drugs at all, and it didn't occur when waking up or falling asleep, then you really do need to find the reason.

If you are suffering from any other problems, such as headaches, sensitivity to light, visual hallucinations, or neurological symptoms then its even more important to see a doctor. Especially if any of them get worse.

Could be just a strange interpretation of tinnitus.

Do you have tinnitus? It sounds nothing like voices. From personal experience, it is a constant fixed noise. I sometimes get hit with a high pitched intense noise randomly. It sounds like when you turn a bulky T.V. on, the noise right before the screen lights up. In actuality, it isn't very annoying and can be soothing.

Voices in an individual's head are unusual. You need to check with a doctor about that.

Its not whispering, its yelling but at low volume.

Other potential causes include brain tumors and anurisms. Ask your doctor, and preferably sooner than later.

Yes, I do. Usually it's just ringing, but if I'm tired, or dehydrated, it changes into something softer and muffled, it could very much sound like a whisper. If you can actually understand words, see a doctor.

omg I just realized i have tittinus from reading this thread. It is a constant ringing sound and I've heard it for as long as i can remember but i thought it was normal, but now I know what it is and there no cure so it wasnt helpful at all. I now know I may need hearing aids. Great.
