A headless, pregnant woman stabbing herself... Can anyone interpret this?

I had a lot of weird dreams last night. I couldn't sleep until about 3 or 4AM, partially because I was loaded on caffeine, and caffeine gives me weird dreams. A lot of them didn't have a really deep meaning I think, except for one. It was more of an image than a dream, I would be having a normal dream when this would interrupt it. It stayed for about 10 seconds or so and then my dream would resume. I saw it several times, and it's bothered me all day, so much that I came here.

It was a woman's body in an old fashioned 18th century dress. But she had no head, and it wasn't just non-existant; there was blood on the stump of her neck, so I guess you could say it had been cut off. And in her midsection the dress had a sort of frame, and it showed her very pregnant baby bump protruding, and her skin was pale. Then the woman lifted a knife to her belly and stabbed it. She pulled the knife away and started bleeding. She bled for a few seconds, and then my other dreams resumed.

I've never had dreams like this before in the way that it lasted only a few seconds, and it would interrupt my other dreams at random. I almost would say it wasn't a dream, but then what would I call it?

I might add that I'm 15 and, definetly not pregnant. My mom is, and she's about 7 months along. But she isn't the woman in my dream, and I don't feel like the dream had anything to do with her. Maybe, I don't know... But there's a lot of pregnant women in my life right now.

Usually I like to interpret my own dreams, and I know it's hard for others to do it instead, but I've had trouble with this one, and it really bothers me. If I were to describe the feeling of the dream... It was 'Ghostly' or 'Menacing'. I felt as though the woman had an intelligence.

If anyone could help, I'd be more than greatful.

hmm............ this is quite weird O.o maybe you should stop drinking caffeine for now until someone gives u a SOLID answer

And now lack of head or decapitation

And finally, stabbing.... they have nothing on stabbing :(

It must of been something you saw that day before you went to sleep for example: I watched TV there was a Horror movie & in that horror movie there was some stabbing another person with a knife then you Mother says "Change the channel I don't like horror's" so you did That night you began to sleep & as you sleep your Brain begins the process of picking what memorys are important & whats not & thats when the dream comes in then some how whatever it was caffine some how stuffed the whole memory process up & therefore thats how the dream was created

Gr8tGod - Normally, I would agree with you. But this was different; I hadn't watched anything on TV that night, and while caffeine might have influenced the severity of my dreams, I don't think it changed the actual meaning... At least with this one. I feel like the meaning is somewhere in the back of my mind, but I can't quite reach it.

Gameoverlord345 Thank you. While I'm not much closer to figuring out what it means, I'll keep what you said in mind... I had also read that no head might mean the loss of an identity, or it could mean anonymity. There's a lot of ways to look at it I guess... I think I might need to be looking at it as a whole.

I don't usually like dreams to repeat themselves but I'm hoping I might see it again tonight... I really want to know what it means.

More likely you just pulled up the most horrific imagery your overstimulated, nightmarish state of mind could dream up. So the question is, what horrifies you more: the idea of pregnancy itself, or the idea of something horrific happening to a pregnant woman (your mother)?

I don't think the concern was pregnancy itself, and I don't think I was horrified by the thought of something happening to the woman or my mom. Infact, the figure in my dream seemed kinda... malicious. Harmful. I might even go so far as to say evil.

It was almost like I wasn't feeling emotions in my dream, but the dream was communicating emotions to me. I'm not sure if that makes any sense... But I wasn't scared when I woke up. I was more disturbed.

try tomorrow, does this reoccur? (yes i have returned cauz it's BRIGHT DAY and im not horrified by what you said anymore:P) dreams are a way of telling you something via metaphors, this is clearly the metaphor.......

I haven't had the dream again and it's been a few days.... *sighs*

Do you have any tips on getting yourself to dream something twice? When I was little I could do this all the time, I could even pick up from a dream where I left off. I can't seem to do it now though :/

You can use menmonic induction, and "brainwash" yourself, with the thought of your dream and with the message "i want to have, again the dream of the headless pregnate woman." for example. Try it. :)

I recommend you don't try it. While some nightmares may be disturbing, their significance and effects are only confined to that dream. For your own sake, DO NOT attempt to have it again. Re-occuring nightmares are horrible, life changing, and worst of all, hard to get rid of.

This could represent you or one of the many pregnant women in your life. With a change of hormones can come a change in personality so I would assume this would refer to a pregnant person represented by the headless pregnant woman in your dream.

Well, the only problem is, I'm not sure if it was a nightmare. It was disturbing, and it bothered me, but I don't know if I should call it a nightmare... am I making sense?

Yes, you are.. It was disturbing, yes, but NEVER EVER try to make these dream reoccur. You see, I have had bad experiences with reoccurring dreams (shivers). (And I am a very daring guy, mind you. O_o)

The most pain I ever experienced was in two dreams I had. They were very similar and days apart. I think it changed me for sure, but I think it was for the best. I can definately understand your viewpoint though.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I had similar imagery sometimes, coming randomly in a normal dream, just that I've never felt disturbed, witnessing violence like looking at something usual. Do you have the habit or passion in violent games, films, music, thoughts? These kind of things came out in my dreams especially after watching such films. Some time ago in one of my dreams I was walking on a street, turned my head to the other side of the road and saw a man screaming in pain having a mutilated foot holding for the hand a little kid only wearing underwear that was staring at the cut foot on the ground... I can't find a meaning to this kind of imagery too... but in your case seems logical to link a pregnant woman to... your mum. Maybe it's just an inconscious fear of having a sister or a brother ;)

I just want to thank everyone for the responses. A month to the date later, and still no conclusions... But it's given me the motivation I need for getting back in to dreams and keeping a dream jounral, so that's a good thing :] still, I can't forget that distinct feeling I had during the dream... It's still morbid and bothersom.

I drew out a few pictures of the dream and thought I'd show everyone. (this is my first time posting pictures so pardon if they don't turn out)
They still don't even begin to describe the dream, they're so.... Lifeless. And I figured out that there was a distinct sound in the dream that I can't recreate in a picture :)

Yes, it's impossible to reproduce a dream, either with paintings or sounds because in my opinion what really matters in every dream, it's not what you do, see, hear or experience, but how you feel when you're having those experiences. Many times what you see or percieve in dreams is nothing more than a mirror reflecting what you feel like, echoing through both conscious and unconscious dimensions.

Agreed. It's impossible to really express a dream like you dreamt it. When I showed my sister the pictures of the pregnant woman she just thought I was morbid and creepy for drawing such a thing, and didn't seem to really understand.

Once, I had a dream where I saw a ninja outside of my window. When I told my friends about the dream, they laughed and said it was awesome, but what they didn't udnerstand is it was actually a nightmare and the sight of the ninja terrified me. I drew it, and everyone would comment with 'Hey, cool Ninja' >.<

I guess that's also the beauty of dreams. They're from your own world, and only you really know them as what they are.

I don't really see a lot of violence. Maybe in some movies, but the thing is the dream felt like it meant something, and like it wanted me to know it, not just a reflection of a disturbing memory. Like my subconcious calling to my concious...

I could just be in denial, but I don't think it's from the fear of having another sibling. It feels like my mom and to-be-born baby sister had very little to do with it. I don't know... dreams are weird:)
