Thanks for the link, ViewingDreams. I only listened to the first minute so far, but it sounds epic.
I can only remember a couple that I've heard in my dreams.
In one dream, I was on a plane with a few of the characters from the TV series Supernatural, and I think we were flying just above a layer of clouds at sunset so there was gold light filling the cabin. I kept hearing the first minute or so of Severe Medication by Two Steps From Hell.
In another, I was with the characters of another old TV show, and everything was in slow motion and we were dancing and rolling around on a sunny day in a field at the edge of a cliff, with the first couple minutes of To Know My Enemy from The Last Samurai soundtrack playing in the background.
Usually the music in my dreams is original.
Once I had a dream where me and my father were eating and having a conversation when Albion by Babyshambles came on the restaurant's radio.
I once heard someone singing a song with lyrics that went "Give god a dead rat, I bet he'll have sex with it."
Sweet Song by Blur. "It takes time to see what you've done, so I lift my hands up slowly." I heard like twenty seconds of it.
I listened to what I think was a made up song last night. It was amazing tho, it was something metal
that I was showing to a classmate. xD
I had a dream last night that Kim Junsu ran out on stage with a guitar singing a song about cheesecake. It went something like, "the cheesecake will be gone, then there will be another cheesecake."
I sing all the time in my dreams one time I sang dreams to dreams or just hummed it. I also sang another song that I created The Land of Dreams. I'm going to try to sing follow the road next.

first of all have you ever had a song stuck in your head and whatever you do you just cant stop thinking if it or if you saw something nasty like a shock site and keep remembering 2 girls and 1 cup. remember that. one of the first times i tried to wild i kept hearing these really awesome rap songs that were just awesome. i didn't qant to listen to them too hard because i wanted to dream but they were almost perfect
One of the originals I dreamed had lyrics. I only remember the last line, "but if you ever wanna f*** me, you know I'll do you right here and now."
My subconscious needs to work on it's grammar. :P
The intro to For Your Entertainment by Adam Lambert (was playing it on my dream keyboard)
Careless Whisper by Wham! (A part of the song had different lyrics, one of my friends in the dream said he heard a "bad" word in the song LOL!)
How Will I Know except instead of it being sung by Whitney Houston, it was sung by what sounded like a man.
When I was about 11 years old, I had a dream where I heard a Creedence Clearwater Revival song, and at the end of the song, John Fogerty kept singing "Yeah" over and over, and it turned out to be my dad snoring. I didn't realize that until after I woke up.
oh man, almost every night theres a song playing in my dream,
like
Land down under (men at work) this is the one I remember the best it was some insane flute solo of this... and I mean insanely epic
then theres mostly random techno that my mind makes up
and some elevator music sometimes (like all the time)
and about 90% of the time I get some random song stuck in my head after I wake up every morning (usually not the song that was in the dream the previous night though)
I recently had a dream with a couple songs in it. Maybe this thread got to me.
Aenima by Tool and a song by Selena
Amazing experiences.
Always ambient guitar music. I'll hear instrumental tracks to songs, but always the guitar is dominant. I play guitar, so maybe I associate with it. I've never heard lyrics in songs unless I was playing something intentionally through a music player of some sort. I hear guitar music in the background all the time. I've pointed out "Message in a Bottle" by the Police, a bunch of U2, and LOADS of Explosions in the Sky, guess because those songs fit as ambient music fairly well. No really intense songs at all, and no lyrics. Mainly guitar.
I want to be able to get lyrical inspiration for writing songs from dreams, but I don't think this is a really good sign towards that.
When I was a kid I was really afraid of silence, so I played loud music every night, all night. Anyways, this caused me to constantly have music in my sleep. Also my current alarm plays music to wake me up, which sometimes shows up in my dreams. But I've never had music in my dreams otherwise, I don't think.
I once heard myself playing the black keys on a keyboard.
I'm not sure if I've ever heard music in dreams that I've heard in real life. :/ I once randomly sang with some dude and he played guitar. -__-' It actually sounded pretty good and it had something to do with morning and eagles. Heh, and since it was a dream I had a better singing voice and the guy was pretty good too. :d I've also had a few dreams where I've tried to play piano, but I usually mess up.
With very rare exceptions, every one of my dreams has a song. Usually there is a lyric in the song that communicates the essential message of the dream. Occasionally there are original piano compositions. If there is no song, that too is an essential part of the dream, and hear something deeper in the silence. Sometimes I sing in dreams, and can feel the control over the muscles in my throat and mouth in great detail, though I lack that control when awake.
Here's a song that comes up occasionally, as a regret for having fallen into mortality, or as a warning for people who think they can play around with power with impunity:
YouTube - Black Sabbath - Too Late (with lyrics)
A softer version:
YouTube - Black Sabbath - Too Late - piano cover [HD]
My dreams are usually entirely visual; I rarely even hear dialogue, let alone music. But last year, I heard the Spongebob Squarepants theme song in one of them O.o
I once heard music in a lucid dream--the dream was not visual, but entirely in sound. It was unlike anything I had ever heard before. It was a piano accompanied by guitar, music without rythm, flowing like a stream through time. They complimented each other. It was beautiful.
Another lucid dream, only in sound, a rendition of Rainbow Race, it was perfect.
hahaha i love this cause i had a great one the other day.
I was just about to wake up at the end of my dream the theme song from the boondock saints started playing and I said something to someone talking shit on my personality, "fuck you my true homies(reffering to my good group of friends I left when I moved a few months back) love me even though I am a dick sometimes. It was something to that effect it was much better and bolder sounding in the dream though :D.
That was a magnificent way to start a beautifully morning.
A couple of nights ago, I dreamed of an alternate version of Franco Zeffirelli's "Romeo and Juliet." The theme song from the original (which I know very well) played very clearly in my dream.
I don't really hear music, but my sister said she heard this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaZMST-vHfM in a dream and it was really creepy. This is one of her favorite songs and she didn't hear it since like a week before the dream
I have an entire dream world that where there is music and everything I experience is built around the emotions and energy of the music.
Has anyone heard full songs during sleep paralysis. I heard a Metallica song and another song I don't remember. But its amazing how the mind remembers the lyrics even though I don't.
This one time, I dreamt I was playing an entirely self-made piano peice. I used to do basic piano lessons, but no way close to the level in the dream. It was so amazing, but I knew I wouldn't be able to remeber what I was playing, just the high I experienced.
I didn't remember dreams ever until I joint DV and after I joined my first 8 dreams all had songs going during the dream, metallica enter sandman and then some avenged Sevenfold
I wonder if we can discover why some people have dreams with music more often than others. I listen to music all the time and make music but I still don't have music in my dreams often. I hear voices and sometimes music when I lie down though.
I somewhat agree with the person who said that the music can communicate the message of the dream. I think the meaning would be contained in the main lyrics that you remember though.
I accidentally altered my dreams lyrics. It was actually the word "do" twice. There was no curse word. I like it more that way.
The last dream I had with music contained Everything Will Be Alright by The Killers.
It's not as good as Albion but it's what I dreamed.
I can't remember ever hearing music in my dreams until a few weeks ago. Now however I've had 8 dreams with songs in. For example I had one dream where two guys made up new lyrics to piano man by Billy Joel and another where I sang you raise me up together with Robbie Williams in front of a huge audience. It's not really the kind of music I normally listen to, but I still woke up from both dreams feeling very happy.
I once had a dream where I was in a park and playing White Wedding by Billy Idol on guitar. And unlike in real life, my guitar playing here didn't suck xD
Boom boom pow by the black eyed peas.
Just last night I remember listening to 'born to be wild' for about 20 seconds, when just at the point where the refrain was about to kick in some asshole turned it off. Man was I pissed!
I only hear whale breathing while I was wandering around the beach.
If interested in some investigation, perhaps mention things from the nights/days before dreams in which you hear music. If you usually hear music, mention what might be the reason for why you're dreams didn't contain music one night.
You could even write down all the details of that day/night somewhere.
I'll do it next time I have a dream with music. Unfortunately, I didn't write down that last dream with music because it was so brief.
I can honestly say I've never heard music in a dream. I've heard sound mutliple times, but never actually music. Which I find wierd, as music is an incredibly large part of my life. That's something I'd like to do in a dream, compose music. Interesting thought :)
Whenever I hear a song in my dream, it's always messed up. Like, once it was the song "Bad Romance" (Lady Gaga) to the tune of "Fly on the Wall" (Miley Cyrus :shakehead: ) with the chorus of a few different songs mixed together in the chorus with the word "overflow" thrown in random places sung by Cadia.
Confused? So was I... quite an interesting combination.
I did hear music from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest once.
Paul McCartney heard "Yesterday" in a dream.
He was convinced it was an old song until he looked for it and couldn't find it.
Pretty amazing.
I heard the song "HillBilly Man" being played on a banjo by a random DC

rebecca blacks very own friday
A dream I once had was about the moon crashing to earth from zelda majoras mask, the final hours theme except it was a remixed version of the song it sounded like a orchestrated song. etc. Epic song wish i could hear it again.
I was applying for jobs since I'm an adult and, as it got late, I found this late night dance club for kids hidden in an alley. At first I didn't recognize anyone and got ridiculed for doing a dance move so I left with a stolen pillow. Then I came back and I realized a bunch of friends from a high school class were there. I heard this song playing although the guitar had extra effects on it. The Shins "A Comet Appears"
I've had a couple of songs appear in my dreams! Prove It by Television was once just playing as a soundtrack to one. Jimi Hendrix's Valleys of Neptune was in my dream, where a girl I liked was singing it to me, and I was singing along. I don't know the lyrics so well to the song, but she was singing it perfectly, but I only filled in the words I knew. That must mean that my subconscious picks up and remembers a song very well, whereas my concious self was struggling with it. Then I was playing Young Man Blues by The Who on guitar in another dream.
I'm pretty sure there was another one but its all I can think of right now.
The other night, I heard a piece of background music from an online game I play very clearly in one of my dreams. (DJ entry here)
Most of the music in my dreams are invented by my subconscious.
But last night, I clearly heard RV356 as I fell asleep in a dream.
Most recently Over and Over by Three Days Grace.
Song I heard before was a One Winged Angel techno theme in a dream one night.
