      Incredibly odd dream...

I die in about a quarter of my dreams, and this usually marks the end of the dream- usually I'm just doing whatever it was I was doing and start falling until I hit the ground and wake up. A few nights ago, however, I began falling and slipping away- but instead of waking up, I found myself in a very strange, voidlike state. I was still clothed, and I still had my wallet- but it didn't have any money or identification, nothing. From what I could deduce, I was in heaven or something like heaven. This frightened me immensely because on some level I had expected to wake up, and being nonlucid I naturally concluded that I was actually dead and had entered the afterlife. This dream has toyed with me for days on end, does anyone know what it might mean? Has anyone had a similar dream?

I recently in a dream concluded that what was happening was impossible in waking life, but I was not dreaming (RC fail), therefore with valid logic I concluded I must be going completely crazy. Your logic of being in the afterlife reminds me of that. I wonder whether like me, your logic is also due to being so close to the realization that this is a dream, almost lucid, but then rebounding from that and going to the other extreme of rationalizing it away. What was happening was at odds with your expectations, but instead of admitting that it is a dream, you like me grabbed another logical explanation for what was happening.

You may say I'm a dreamer.

      This cracked me up

I do agree though, I think maybe you weren't ready to wake up and therefore the dream had to continue but how do you continue from death... The afterlife of course. Reminds me of a dream I had last night where some things didn't make any sense and I even said to my dad's DC "I don't want you to think I'm crazy, but I'm pretty sure this is a dream." Then I rationalized it all as... wait for it... I'm in a virtual reality video game.

Both of those make a ton of sense, actually. Maybe there's no deeper meaning and I just had a brainfart.

Those dreams are the best. They might be scary but they feel so real and when you wake up you appreceate everything more. they leave you with this weird calm feeling.
