      Who Am I, Really?

can lucid dreaming be a way of communicating with your own subconscious?
can i use it to further my knowledge of myself?
I'm very interested in psychology, in case you can't tell.

anyway, you don't have to answer my questions, I would love to know your thoughts though
      have a nice day

Your subconscious is just part of your brain. I don't think you can really have a conversation with it. Unless you make it into a dream character. But it's just a dream character.

Yes u can tap into your higher self and dream guides for insight on who u are now and who u were. But You have to have some prior knowledge about a particular subject before u persue the answers u look for in a dream only then will they manifest for u. In other words You must know where your going before u get there. In your case You want to know who u are ok I would study past life regression subtle energy bodies etc. Then go after your question with in the dream. Namaste.

"when you fall unconscious, what your mind expresses is a dream.
When you are aware, what your mind expresses is creativity. It creates your life.
When you are in a higher state of consciousness, it not only creates the life of whatever you want, but also on whom ever you want". -LifeBlissFoundation

Dream guides are just dream characters. They aren't anything special.

Although I agree with you, a lot of people don't. And your not going to change their opinion.it's just going to cause an argument.

I think that you know who you are already. So you can't "find out more about yourself" but I think that some things in dreams can be real eye openers. For example if your addicted to drugs but your still don't think your addicted. And then you have a dream about being alone and homeless. It could open your eyes to your drug problem.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Everything you see in a dream is a projection of your thoughts, so essentially a dream character is a part of you. I don't really think you can found out more about yourself, you know already everything you know about you. If you do feel lost however, talking to a dream character can help you find yourself.

Yes you can communicate with your subconscious. That's pretty much all I do in dreams. And no, you almost certainly are not already aware of everything that your subconscious is. That's why they call it subconscious!

I don't do this lucidly, I just ask a question during the day, and usually I get an answer that night. It should work lucidly too though, as long as being lucid doesn't demand so many mental resources that your subconscious doesn't have an avenue to communicate through.

My subconscious thinks quite a bit differently than I do consciously, so one of the main things I work on is just learning to interpret the feelings and images. I'm aware of way more now than I used to be though, so I think its worth it.

Motive is probably important - if your reasons for wanting more knowledge are contrary to what your subconscious is responsible for, it will block you. I think this is a big part of why certain things are subconscious to start with.

Oslo, I would suggest reading the works of Robert Wagonner. Especially this one...

Amazon.com: Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner Self (9781930491144): Robert Waggoner: Books

He goes through several ways of communicating with yourself through lucid dreaming. He explores territory seen even by some dreamview members as absurd. For example: astral projection, time travel, accessing unknown knowledge as well as profound inner exploration. I highly recommend this book, good luck.

Well what you do in your dream shows your character.
