      Cartoon dream characters

Anyone ever run into cartoon characters in dreams? Its weird how the brain can maintain an illusion like this considering they are cartoon characters but you are not. I had a dream a while ago where I was hanging around with Quagmire from Family Guy. I didn't see anything strange about him, I didn't really make the connection that he was a cartoon character. I ran into Salad Fingers in a dream the other night. Anyone who doesn't know who salad fingers is, type his name into youtube. He was just as bizarre in my dream as he is in the cartoons. My god it was weird, I was sitting in his kitchen half amused at how bizarre he is but half disturbed at the weird things he was doing. He was milking his cat and buttering his toast with vaseline. Thats all I can remember at the moment but I'm fairly sure I've ran into cartoon characters plenty of times.

Also this is a clear example refuting the theory that all dream characters are real people that happen to be dreaming too. I've heard this theory from some people and even pondered it myself but where do cartoon characters come into this? They obviously have no real life counterpart.

I've never tried to dream in cartoon, but I've heard about it before.

Sometimes I wish my nightmares was in cartoon, how cute.

I dunno, watching Salad Fingers milk his cat the other night was a fairly disturbing experience. Cartoon nightmares aren't necessarily any less scary that 3D ones.

I have never, lucid or non lucid had a dream about cartoon characters, I don't know why, I guess I just prefer real life, and my mind just wants to be realistic.

      Sounds gool though.

I remember the long agonizing wait for Bll Plympton to finally release Idiots and Angels:

He only released little teaser clips and still images for the longest time, and I was going nuts. Finally after watching a teaser for it like 20 times and thinking about it a lot one night I dreamed I was in hell and it was made of crumpled and re-flattened sheets of paper and the characters in it were all cartoons like he draws. I also dreamed of cars like the ones he draws.

And on other occasions I've had DCs that were claymation. that was wild.

I had a dream today, and I think the fact that a cartoon character appeared made me wake. Sometimes this is not the case

It's not cute. They're just a terrifying as normal nightmares.

Well, I think that the idea that dream characters are always other people is pretty bogus, considering lucid dreaming would be amazing if the dc of your friend was actually your friend all the time. Not that I think shared dreaming as a whole should be discounted, but that I run into family and friends all the time and they never have any recollection of it, even my wife, who I have woken and asked about what she is dreaming about. And also she has woken me before with a dream about me while I have my own awesome fantastic dreams.

So basically, if every DC was actually a human, it would be more like someone taking over someone else's dreams for a night. Does that make sense? Like I had a dream last night that I am surviving the zombie apocalypse with my wife. My wife has a dream about sunshine and roses. Random person #3 has a dream that they are a girl (my wife) surviving the zombie apocalypse with her husband (me). But that doesn't make much sense, considering the amount of people sleeping and crossover and things like that. So for instance if this was true in your case and salad fingers (love salad fingers... and rusty spoons) was a different human dreaming, they would be dreaming that they are salad fingers.

My idea is that they are just projections from our brain. For instance, salad fingers would just be a random thought floating in your unconscious mind, it comes to the top and manifests itself in the dream. Things like incubation can bring specific things, places, and people to your dream. Being lucid, you can go or summon any of those random thoughts. I have seen a lot of animated characters in dreams due to watching a lot of animated shows and anime. Finn and jake being semi regulars in the dreams. For about 6 months, I spent every lucid trying to get to aincrad from sword art online, so I have been there probably 40 times altogether. It is animated and coming from the low amount of frames in a japanese anime to real time dream is really interesting to see.
