Being Jerked Awake?
Alright so I googled around and I don't think this is a hypnic jerk.
Some nights, I would be woken up out of nowhere, without warning or reason, to a sudden shake of my bed. It feels exactly as if someone took their hand and SMACKED my mattress at the foot of my bed as hard as they could. This happens about once a week.
Anyone else get this? Does it have something to do with sleep paralysis/REM?

That's a hypnic jerk. People experience it differently...a sensation of falling, or maybe getting hit in the face with a ball, or having the bed smacked...it's all the same thing really. :P

Ok good. Because people tell me my house is haunted, and that's the last thing I needed.

I have these quite often, often accompanied by a loud pop or crackle sound.

Happens to mee when im very tired and goes to sleep too fast. The SP doesent kick in fast enough to stop me from moving when just fallen asleep. At least thats what i think happens.
I have been jerked awake by a dream, i was punching a guy in the face when suddently i woke up, holding my fist straight up in the air.

It's weird because this happens to me not when I'm falling asleep, but when I'm in the middle of deep sleep. My dream usually has nothing to do with any sort of physical impact. I'll just wake up to a sudden, single shake in my bed, but whatever, I'll mark this down as a hypnic jerk.
