Hello Ms Dead,
Well I know this thread is a bit old now but since it had a bit of an Aussie theme, I couldn't resist!
If this Raymond in your dream was an Aussie, then perhaps he was wearing an Akubra hat, not a cowboy hat. Akubra is a brand of Aussie hat which is a famous Australian icon. (It looks a lot like a cowboy hat I suppose). Its made of rabbit fur and is well known for being a strong, tough and durable hat which can handle any kind of treatment and still come up looking great - as long as it is looked after properly. Perhaps this is symbolic of Raymond in general and symbolic of something in your life (or something you would aspire to?) Goggle "Akubra" and see what comes up for you.
Here's the akubra website link: http://www.akubra.com.au/
In Australia, people who wear Akubras are mainly people who live out in the bush or live and work on the land - like farmers, stockmen, Jackaroos, Etc, but anyone can wear one. You don't see them much in the city though.
They are worn to protect one from the harsh sun and the rain, (and they're also worn as a part of the Australian identity). I thought it was interesting that Underhiswing pointed out that the meaning of the name "Raymond" also meant "protector"! Very interesting! I think that is a strong clue there.
The weather (eg that boring conversation you had with Raymond) I suppose is a typical conversation for any person, but for those working on the land, it is more than just a trivial matter - due to the extreme weather we tend to get here, like 10-15 years of no rain followed by the worst most destructive floods ever, and now it seems to be raining all the time! (Which is great - not complaining about the rain!! Haha) Australia has always been known as "the land of droughts and flooding rains" after all! The weather really determines everything for those on the land.
Perhaps the weather conversarion could be symbolic of being able to deal with things that are beyond our/your control? Personally, I don't know how anyone survives on the land here, it just seems to be set back after set back, hardship after hardship. But somehow people have the strength to keep going. Perhaps that is something that Raymond symbolises also? Mental strength, determination, etc, etc.
Well not sure if these thoughts were helpful at all. Maybe you could post one of these dreams in their entirety in the dream interpretation forum? The bridge for instance could mean a number of things depending on the context. It could be about a bridge between two worlds - transitioning from one phase to the next - or it could be about "building bridges" which means building alliances and strengthening relationships with people. It would really help to get some context in the dream. I guess I am looking at Raymond from a symbolic point of view rather than looking at him as a relative of yours. Would a relative say they were nobody? Hmmm I suppose they might if they didn't think you were ready for something, whatever that might be. Dreamguide? Yes, i think he is a dream guide who is here to teach you or show you something important.
