For me, listening to Jeff Buckley's album "Grace" in the middle of the night, all lights out, is always an otherworldly experience. |

I'ts really not possible. It would take way too much work doing it all with scripts and using a procedurally generated world would be either to wacky or too rigid. I would love to develop a proper dream game, if I ever get good enough at scripting I might be able to develop some randomly generated world based on what the computer learns from all kinds of things on your computer etc |

Perhaps in the future then? A long, long, long, long .... |

I find that the album Trespassing by Adam Lambert is a great album to listen to for dream inspiration, both in terms of lyrics AND music. A lot of the sounds you can hear on that album seems to take me to outer space, or some futuristic world. The same could also be said for the album For Your Entertainment as well. |

The music that really inspires me is any soundtrack music, especially the oblivion soundtrack. It's by far some of the best tracks I've ever heard and they make me feel like I'm in a completely different land, no matter where I listen them. |
|
I think game soundtracks are great for that because they're specifically designed to transport you to and immerse you in this world the developers have created. I'd recommend the soundtracks for Botanicula and Machinarium, Amanita Design did a fantastic job with those |

I agree totally with soundtracks.. I collect them, from films/game/series and a lot of unknown obscure music.. I have around 5000 soundtracks and 1TB of music and I can pick anyone and make some unique dreamscapes or ideas appear. One of my personal favourites for big epic scenes is listening to trailer music... Music by 'Two Steps From Hell' is fantastic. If you haven't heard, youtube it and let me know what you see |

It's amazing the way how one can talk with melodies. Perhaps I will go a little bit off-topic, but I really love the background music from those old cartoons about a cat chasing a mouse, it's incredible how you can know what's happening just by hearing the background music. And it used to be just a single piano played. |

I totally know what you mean man, the likes of audiomachine, two steps from hell etc etc. It doesn't stop there either, the likes of jeremy soule and hanz zimmer just keep pumping out great tunes too. I really like oriental soundtracks because they are usually really simple, most trailer music is really loud and epic and it's quite hard to visualize doing something mundane to it. Unlike medieval or chinese traditional music. |
|
My favourite Lucid dreaming inspiration music (yes it's from animatrix): |
|
Have to agree especially there with Hans Zimmer, probably a biased opinion but the Inception OST is fairly phenomenal if a bit repetitive |
|
Yeah I know, trailer music is amazing but It tend to convey certain thoughts of epic proportions which is great when you're in that mood, and then the oriental and medieval is amazing for something totally different and enchanting.. |
