      False Awakenings

I was just wondering how many times in a week someone who doesn't lucid dream would experience false awakenings. The question just came to me since there have always been those days I never really did do a reality check after I woke up, yet questioned if I actually was dreaming.

      Experiences?

If you don't dream you can't get a false awakening...

It varies from person to person, but generally they don't happen often for people who don't lucid dream.

I never had a false awakening before I started, and my recall was very good, so I'd have to second Checker, not very often.

Me too not very often but maybe a couple times every few months, seems to be a pattern for me. The last one was about 3 FA in a row, i went all the way to school for a whole period then my house got raided, next i went to the amusement park. weird, i usually get them only when i get lazy on my RC.

I remember only one FA from times before I started lucid dreaming.

I think, that I may have had more of them, only I don't remember them. After all, FA is a normal non-lucid dream, in which you happen to dream about getting up and going about your business.

We may notice them more after we start with lucid dreaming, because we pay better attention to dreams, our recall is better and now we know what FAs are.

I can't Lucid dream and the only times I really ever have false awakenings is when I'm really tired but have a busy day. I will dream that I woke up, got dressed, went to school/work/etc. My whole day goes by and as I'm getting ready for bed I wake up and realize I haven't even gotten dressed yet. Sometimes though I will still be in the dream and do this a few times, by the time I really wake up it's NOT in a good mood. lol very mundane I know..

The thing is, they could have false awakenings fairly often, but if you aren't practicing lucid dreaming or recall in general, you can forget a false awakening very easily. Even more easily than the rest of the dream that followed. The funny ones are after a night of drinking, the next morning I'm a bit dehydrated and got cotton mouth. I get up to go get a drink of water 5 or 6 times before actually waking up to get one, lol. False Awakenings after a night of partying are super common, for me anyway.

I never have FAs anymore. I used to have them a lot. I kinda wish I had them because it would help me become lucid.
