Question Is your dream house haunted?

      Hi there,

I was wondering if any of you dream about living in a house (possibly fairly large, can feel pretty huge) where a section of it is haunted?

I have been having dreams from time to time about a house I'm living in (in the dream) that has a section that feels haunted, and
feels incredibly scary to enter that part. Sometimes beings, ghosts, entities (or whatever) will come from that part. It often can feel that it is an extra home that joins on to the home I'm living in (in dream) that can be accessed from my 'normal' dream home (a corridor links them). The 'haunted' part feels so horrendously frightening - the worse kind of 'don't EVER go there' you can think of.

Would be interested to hear if anyone else is having similar dreams?

      Thanks,

      Aelf

I recall when I was younger, I used to often have a dream that I would venture into the basement of my house and find another door leading into a basement below that. The rooms would get older and more decayed looking. Oftentimes giving way to abandoned underground industrial or office complexes. I would continue going deeper and deeper underground, often with the feeling that I was being chased by something. Though this wasn't very similar to what you describe.

If your dream house is an expression of yourself, then I wonder if that locked off, separate, haunted portion of the house is representative of some feelings or aspect of yourself that horrifies you, and that you try to hide from others and yourself. Whatever it is, I encourage you to investigate why this section of your dream house exists. This doesn't necessarily mean that I'm asking to go in there. Just try to figure out what it represents and don't ignore it. Who knows, maybe when you do go into that section you will find out that there was nothing there at all...

I tend to have those dreams when I hear/think of something haunted related. Perhaps your attention to the place increased the feeling of dread of that place. You can explore that area of your dream if you want to find out what it represents like Jade said or make it into something good instead of bad. Like if there is a scary dc there think of it becoming a good and approachable dc.

      Hi JadeGreen,

thanks for your reply. I have considered that it's all my subconscious/unconscious and therefore the house represents known and hidden aspects of myself. I also consider that dreams may well be real places that exist on some other layer of perception/frequency (although really these are just terms invented to try to make sense of it all). It's possible that when we dream, a mixture of elements are involved - some relating to parts of our unconscious and others that exist independently (and maybe there's a fine line between what we think is a part of ourselves and what exists separately).

I've had dreams, lucid dreams and obes that hint that what we encounter in our 'nighttime experiences' is not always our subconscious/unconscious. For instance, I lived in a haunted house once (physical one) and had an obe where I discovered a doll. Turns out where I found it was where there was a strange presence that I'd noticed before and found out my partner (at the time) had also experienced the feeling of a presence there. In that experience I also found the layout of the house was different than in the physical. I found out (a few weeks after the obe) that some time ago there had been a fire at that house and that the layout used to be different. For instance, there was never a bathroom at the end of the hallway (in the obe there was no bathroom at the end of hallway with door facing, but instead an extra bedroom whose door was to the right side of the hallway, like all the other bedroom doors are.)

Additionally we both experienced being tapped by something in that part of the house (where the doll was found) - him near the hallway window, me in the bedroom opposite that window. Then one day he heard a little voice in his head (that's how he put it) while smoking at the upstairs hallway window (the one where there is a 'presence' and where the doll was found.) The 'little voice' told him to lift a particular floor board upstairs. He knew exactly what floorboard to lift. Underneath there were different newspaper articles about different child deaths. There didn't seem to be anything suspicious about the deaths, and they were in different parts of the UK but it was weird that each piece of newspaper had an article about a child's death. I then said we should check under all floorboards, as it's probably that there's pieces of newspaper under each floorboard. So we lifted the carpet again and tried other floorboards. Every other floorboard wouldn't lift, the only one that would lift was the one he had the 'thought' about. This house was the 'Old Police House' by the way.

It's experiences like this that have led me to think that our 'nighttime experiences' (dreams/lucid dreams/obes etc.) might not all be just representing our own subconscious.

I'm not sure what I think that haunted house in my dreams is representing (if anything - who knows maybe our consciousness visits real non-physical places when we dream). One idea I had was that since this scary part of the house is haunted and has spirits/ghosts, that maybe crossing into it allows more of an experience of spirits in the physical (I see energy/auras and this has been increasing over the years and started to see spirits on occasion). Another idea (based on reading Carlos Castaneda) is that the 'safe' side represents the 'tonal' (which very loosely could be compared to normal waking consciousness, actually that's not quite right - it would include normal waking consciousness - since the 'tonal' is all about what is known or knowable.) And therefore the frightening side of the house would represent the 'nagual' (all that is unknowable.)

Anyway, the reason I started this thread is because I'm intrigued to hear from others who dream of a similar house - as it's interesting to see what others have experienced with this and maybe look for patterns. For instance, a few experiences I've heard from others so far say that the scary part of the house is old, with antique furniture or run down (like you were saying.) That's the same with my dream haunted house - the side that's scary seems older with with very old fashioned/antique furniture.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience. And it is interesting to look into the whys and whats of it all too

      Hi DreamCafe11,

thanks for your post. I'm not sure if my attention to the place has increased the dread, since it's always been terrifying and the dream haunted house is nothing like any house I know in physical. Thanks for your suggestions, they are things I have thought of trying except the terrifying feeling is so overwhelming whilst in the dream it's very hard to go there. I do find myself daring to go there, but only to run into briefly and run out again. Interestingly, just by simply 'crossing the line' into that part of the house, something seems to be aware of my presence there and someone/s (who in the dream feel like ghosts/spirits) come out of a room/s and pursue me. Sometimes I find myself accidently in that part of the house. For instance, staying in a bedroom in that part of the house that's haunted, which feels terrifying. So it obviously seems it won't harm me to be there. I might try getting lucid there and exploring it (I have tried that but explored the outside grounds) - it really does feel terrifying to go to that other side of the house.

      Thanks again for your reply

I dreamt that I lived in a house alone. It was an abandoned house surrounded by forest. I was doing my business in the toilet when suddenly I realized that a ghost woman with a hollowed face and wearing a robe was stalking me. I was frightened and hide immediately behind a wall because I didn't know where to run or what to do. Gladly, she dissappeared after that. Happy ending.

Hahah! That's so true. Maybe that dream was a reflection of my awkwardness level in real life. That's my assumption. Anyway, sorry that I can't help you. I'm just terrible at giving advice.
