      Dry Spell

Last year was an amazing year of lucid dreaming for me. I had 55 lucid dreams, most of them very high quality and long lasting. Wow, I got to do so many interesting things in those dreams and so I figured that 2018 would be just as amazing if not better. But I noticed that something was off last December when I was having trouble inducing lucid dreams, and if I did manage to have one it was unstable and short. I only attempt lucid dreaming on weekends when I can sleep in and so far this year I have been unsuccessful in all of my attempts. Even my Go to technique (WBTB) is failing and when I use Galantamine it has no impact whatsoever.

Am I worried? Nah, this is not the first time this happens and it simply means that it is time to take a break and focus on other dream endeavours such as dream incubation or dream analysis. I figure that this will last a few months or maybe even longer. I once had a dry spell that lasted almost a year! I guess it's hard to keep the motivation and expectations in high mode all the time.

So I'm curious; what is the experience of others here with respect to dry spells?

Usually for me it means that i have to balance out all the information i'm getting from my dreams into waking life sort of decode it and as soon as i understand what i'm 'worried about' i can move on in dreams as well.

I’ve been in a dry spell for the last year also. I have found doing meditation can help with dream awareness. I personally do Yoga Nidra, I found a great guided version in the App Store. I am starting to finally have more lucid dreams and moments more often. Raising your awareness of the thoughts and feelings in your waking life can help you recognise them in your dream life too.

      Hi Finny

If you don't mind me asking; what is the app you are using?
