Choosing a career based on your dreams

Greetings, I've wondering about this, is it a good idea to choose a career based on dreams you had while you are asleep, I've having dreams about architecture and and in the dream I'm taking college courses about it, even though I have no much frame of reference or knowledge of Architecture in real life. Would it be wise to start going to college for architecture simply based on dreams?

^^ Probably not. Dreams are funny things, in terms of imagery, and sometimes that imagery has nothing to do with the real meaning of the dream. Who knows? Your unconscious could be sending signals that you need to, say, "learn to build" some part of your life that you've been letting slide lately -- or something else altogether. Or nothing at all; sometimes your dreaming mind is just grabbing stuff randomly, with no meanings at all.

I guess my opinion is that something as important as a career should be decided by the signals you're giving yourself in waking-life. If you find yourself curious about architecture, or have an artistic/mechanical sort of mindset, then it's worth looking into. If you've never given architecture a thought, or maybe you have and dislike it, then maybe it's worth not looking into. Or, if you look into it now and find you don't like it, don't go to college for it simply because you dreamed about it.

Bottom line: I suggest you use your waking-life mind, experience, and desires to choose a career; it's that important. Let dreams help, if you want to, but don't let them be the sole source for your decision.

That depends. Do you love architecture?

You could say dreams suggest things to... think about. Now you can think about "Am I interested by the role and responsibilities of an architect. Does it align with my skills?

I was inspired to volunteer with kids again after a dream. In my dream, I made the choice to go back to my previous job and leave the current job. In waking life, I stayed at my then-current job and volunteered at a new place. So, I didn't follow the dream (it would have been a mistake) but it inspired me to think about a new opportunity. Just be reasonable.

Well, I've also had memories of places which I can't remember if they are from waking life or dreams, and usually one of the only things I remember from the dreams is where it took place, And I still remember them from several years ago. So I wonder if that's related.

      I don't see the connection.

But yes, I also have many memories of dream places (without necessarily remembering the dreams) that I generally recall during other dreams.

Well I do like structures and design, I think visually, I did well in drafting classes and I've investigated the career further and it seems really interesting to me(even though I heard is hard and stressfull), so it might be worth looking more into it.

Finding a career path can be tough. Some people never really figure that out. You just have to pick something and go for it really but try to pick something you love or have a natural skill. I wouldn't make any decisions based on a dream but like others said it's ok to use dream as inspiration and something to consider. I think you should look into it if that's something that makes you excited.

Sometimes dreams do come true and the surest way to make it happen is to live them.

If you like architecture then go ahead, but make sure that it is what you want. Do not base your future from your dreams
