i was studying for my american history test on the salem witch trials when i came accross i paragraph that related, oddly, to a hag ("side-effect from wilds"). here is an excerpt from the passage:
"one nearby villager, richard comans, reported seeing bridget bishops's specter in his bedroom. bishop lay upon his breast, he reported, and 'so oppressed' him that 'he could not speak nor stur, noe not so much as to awake his wife' sleeping next to him."
after reading about hags earlier today i noticed similarities:- seeing a specter of bridget bishop (not a vivid image of her)
- bishop lay upon his breast (breast=chest)
- he could not speak nor stur
could this richard comans had been experience a hag, while accidently wilding? thoughts?
edit: spelling mistake

Sounds like classic sleep paralysis with hallucinations. In other words, what people like to call "Old Hag". From reading that, there's not a doubt in my mind that this Richard Comans guy got some poor girl burnt cos of sleep paralysis.
Good post, Casualtie! Interesting historical example...

There are so many incidents that are reported that can be attributed to SP and Old Hag. A case in point is all of the reports where aliens have kidnapped and then experimented on people.
