      Greetings,

I have had some unusual memories on waking, sometimes, when I wasn't in a dream. I was sleeping, definitely, though not really aware of being asleep, or aware of my body on the bed. The difference between what I remembered and dreaming was that I was perfectly aware of real-world issues, aware of my real self, and not visualizing anything. I was very surprised when this first happened, I haven't ever heard of this. But, what do we do when we're not dreaming? We think, a lot! We think about our problems in life, we work things out, just like people have suspected we do. Only, we do this in pure unconscious thought. Well I did. And those thoughts are just like dream talk or dream thought, they make perfect sense at the time but if you happen to remember specific words while awake, they can be very confusing.

Ok just wanted to share, because it's so freaky to remember this. And I am curious if anyone else has had memories like this?

I couldn't figure out where to post this since it didn't seem to really fit in for any of the subjects, so I thought this would be close enough.
      well wishes,
      lily

Hm. That is very interesting. Its like a cross between sleep and awareness, where the body is "Dreaming logically" if that makes sense?

Dont know much about it, but its a very interesting concept.

Well, I don't know about "dreaming logically", I don't remember any of it now as it all goes away so quickly, but when I did remember, I was sitting in my bed wondering "what the heck was I thinking?" it seemed much like sleeping with logic being there but being much more lax. Where pictures in a dream may be strange to me awake, though they bear relation to things I know of.. these thoughts were kinda like that. Words can mean different things, and words that don't exist can form as it's own distinct concept. Thought-lines can jump about just as wildly as dreams change. Not that I don't do this on occasion when I'm awake LOL. The tangents one takes while sleeping though, they seem a bit more abrupt and unusual than ones we take awake. Of course it doesn't have to be totally illogical either, I guess I do remember one time waking up, knowing I had been worrying over a problem that had been on my mind the night before, and just thinking about the possible outcomes of different actions. So.. I guess it could depend on what level of sleep one's getting.

It could depend on what level of sleep ones in. As you probably know there are a few levels of sleep, then REM sleep. You could be in a lower level, just more aware. You'll be somewhere in between the dream world and reality. Your conscious mind not being entirely shut down.

This sounds like something I've experienced at least once (I think) and nearly experienced the other night. I was laying in bed, trying to relax both my body and my mind and words seemed to be in my mind. Not heard or written, just there. I was aware of everything that was happening, and I felt that if it kept going, images would have appeared. But I was disturbed and got out of it. I was begining to wonder if it was possible to go into a lucid dream directly from being awake, but I wasn't sure about that.

It does sound to me like my experience is what you are talking about. I've actually described it to others as being in a place between awake and asleep.

Yeah thats very interesting for sure. I guess it depends on the level of sleep one is currently in. Perhaps how deep in sleep is that person. I think lighter sleep will bring about more unconscious awareness (?) if that makes any sense.

I think that.. I've experienced that sort of thing, too. Sometimes before sleep I start drifting and see or hear things. So it is kinda like that, only that what I experience when I'm falling asleep is kinda different, as I know I'm drifting, and falling asleep. When I woke up from having 'sleep thought', I didn't realize I was asleep til I felt myself wake up. I didn't really "think" I was awake, either, as the distinction just didn't enter my mind. It wasn't important to me. May be that they're different experiences, possibly related somehow. I don't know. Were these words thoughts?

Quite possibly. When WILDing one of the stages is quite similar. Sounds are heard, and images are seen. The images are called Hypnotic Imagery which are created by your brain. The sounds are the same deal.

So it sounds like one of the stages of WILD. Does this happen immediatly, or just feel like its immediate?
