I heard that sometimes when falling to sleep. people can feel falling sensations..
Well a couple of times (and last night, which caused me to write about this), my mind kinda wandered off, and for whatever reason I was thinking that I was leaning on something. Then that thing broke off, and my if it was real my arm would have fallen down too. The strange thing was that even though I wasn't fully asleep (although not fully conscious, either), I was woken up because I 'felt' it falling away..
Is that normal?
[Edit: Sorry about posting this in the wrong forum :(]

I don't think it's in the wrong forum...
what you're talking about is called 'hypnagogic jerks' and they occur just as you are falling asleep and your body starts to relax.

As Irishcream said, thats called a Hypnic Jerk (Aka Hypnagogic Jerk). They are normal occurances, but we ussually don't remember experiencing them as they are in the transisition from wake-sleep and sleep-wake.
I ussually experience them in the form of a dream during the transistion and wake to falling sensation.

Yeah, a lot of them I remember exactly what my HI was about that caused it.
I experienced a violent jerk two nights ago. I was laying there dozing off, and my imagery - I was still experiencing blackness, but I faintly saw a sidewalk, and I started to fall over toward it (I guess my subconscience placed me there as well), and I reached out of break my fall, my body entire shuttered, as if I had just hit the sidewalk. Popped me wide awake for like a minute.
