Ethnicity of Dream Characters

I am white, and I'm pretty sure that in literally every dream I have ever had the DC's were white. (Except in a recent one.) I was wondering if this is true for others. Do your DC's tend to be what race YOU are?

I'm pretty sure it's just what race you seem to see more of during the day seeing that dreaming seems to be your sub-conscious taking memories and mixing them together. I'm puerto rican and I see more white people in my dreams.

No, they tend to be the races I see the most. Which just so happens to be white. When I lived in a more diverse area, my human dream characters where more diverse.

You can pretty much break it down to the % ethnic groups you commonly interact with during the day. Then add to that how much attention you give any one group. When a gang of 10 black kids surrounded me and tried to mug me (I held them at bay with my "look of death"), I had frequent dreams of about being accosted by gangs and still have them from time to time even years later. A strong emotional connection can increase the frequency of anything appearing in your dreams.

I live in an most white environment therefore my dream characters tend to be such. I think the ethnicity in your dreams just reflects what you're most used to seeing.

I find myself around a nearly 50-50 mix of Hispanics and white, but most if not all of my random DCs are white. The ethnicity of people I know is constant however.

Considering that I mostly dream about friends, family members and other various acquaintances (about 99.9% of which are white or hispanic), my dreams are dominated by DCs that are - wouldn't you know it - white or hispanic! However, one thing I've noticed that's rather interesting is that black people (usually men) do tend to pop up quite frequently in my dreams, even though there aren't any black people who are frequently in my life. I mean, seriously...if you were to search my DJ for the terms "black guy" or "black dude", you'd get quite a few results. They're usually not up to anything important, mostly just chillin' in one way or another. I'm beginning to think I should see them as a dream sign, but...well, doing a reality check every time I see a black person in waking life probably isn't the most ethical thing I could do. "Holy crap, a black guy! I must be dreaming!"

The people who most often figure in my dreams are my family members, and they happen to be of Scandinavian decent, just like myself. I've had friends pop up in my dreams from time to time too, and they're the same as in real life. I don't have many random DCs. I'm beginning to think I should see them as a dream sign, but...well, doing a reality check every time I see a black person in waking life probably isn't the most ethical thing I could do. "Holy crap, a black guy! I must be dreaming!" Why? There's nothing racist about the fact that you most often see black people in your dreams. I don't get why someone would be bothered by that, but if you just do a discreet RC it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know, usually the ethnicity of my dream characters is pretty diverse. I can't recall specifically if there's a majority because I never really thought about it before. I will have to pay more attention in the future.

My dreams are very egalitarian, people of every race and ethnicity are well represented. Including some who look like races/ethnicities which I think maybe don't exist in the real world (at this time). And some who are probably aliens, or at least humans from other planets.

In your waking life, take a look at what those black people that may appear out of nowhere are doing. What their disposition is, where they are going and what they look like. Later in your dream recall, try to pay more attention to detail of what they are doing if you can. I would be interested to hear what you come up with down the road if you are thinking about figuring out what sort of connection there may be.

African Americans appear in my dreams quite often, I feel that this is a valid dream symbol/character seeing that I never dream of any other race. Not Chinese, Russian, Spanish, nor any colored people like blue pink or red...I went to public school with several different races, good friends and good people. I have heard from a valid source that African Americans in your dream could be telling you that you need to check your human condition with your God."get your heart right with God" African Americans in history are synonymous for being opressed, inslaved and very spiritual...hasnt anyone seen Roots?

I would say that that most of my DCs who aren't people I know or celebrities are white. However, I have noticed that I have more Chinese DCs than any other non-white race, and many 'foreigners' are still ethnically white, or a tanned caucasian. I rarely see non-white people in my day-to-day routine. Only once in a dream there was an alien woman who could change colour at will.
