An Interesting Question... I think...

Okay, well since I was about... hmm, 9 or 10 years old (1999-2000) I've basically had this imaginary world living inside my head. It was pretty minimal at first, but especially over the last couple of years i've really grown the world to a large size. It's just a place in my imagination, I suppose when I was younger it was kind of like having imaginary friends, I have no idea what it is now i'm 17 lol. Anyways, I generally "adventure" in this world as I lie in bed before I fall asleep. Now, my question is; why do I never dream about this place? It is certainly possible that I have and just forgotten, but you'd think of all the dreams I would have remembered over 7 years, it'd pop up somewhere. Is there any scientific reasoning for this? Or does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I've myself had many imaginary worlds and imaginary friends (one stands out though). I did the same you do, and it actually felt sweet to explore my own world... I could use it to deal with problems in real-life (such as the bullying I was subject to when younger).

I actually think we don't dream about it because our subconscious knows it's our imagination - contrary to TV for example, which although we might have full knowledge to be fake, we see it with our own eyes, and so we subconsciously take is as real (and so we dream about it). That is just a theory though, I'm not like a Ph.d nor anything :P

I dream in my "imaginary world". I think this is because when I'm falling asleep, or when I'm bored, I adventure around like you do, only since the beginning I've had this underlying understanding that that world is the world I dream in. So, to me, I can't dream outside it. It's my dream world.

I have a similiar case, except mine is more of a particular setting....pretty much a dream sign. I always end up in this park...it's a variation of a park in reality, however this park is recognised when in dreams as "the dream park".

I often explore it and it's always in somewhat of a state of confusion, but I think that's the purpose of a dream! Getting THROUGH something!

I had my own imaginary world with a lot of skyscrapers, roller coasters and other amusement park rides I've imagined my own city I started this meditation thing at the age of 16 I'm 21 now and it was so weird I didn't know what it was called back then but I'd use to have fun in my own little worlds now i've move don to more advanced things such as riding high-speed trains or flying at such high rates of speed Lucid Dreaming is so cool it rids my boredom.

that may be the case...but how come VILD is a technique? that involves building an imaginary dream-scene...and dreaming about it.

It's of course equally likely, Crimsonwolf...that you havent recalled EVERY dream you've had for 8/9 years! maybe you have dreamt...but forgotten:?
