Why is our Subconscious mind dumb?

Alright, excuse me if i'm being a little rash but i've been having some trouble with lucid dreaming for the past few months now and i am trying to figure out why our Subconscious minds are so much stupider than our own conscious?

I mean, last night i had a dream where i was at school and i punched a guy and he exploded!!! How does my Subconscious not know that that is not realistic!!

So if anyone has any hints to notice these dreamsigns more, or has any information regarding this topic, i would greatly appreciate it.
Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

Maybe we aren't stupid while dreaming, but all the strange things that happen, are normal in the dream world we're in when they happen. What annoys me is, I never even have weird dreams to be stupid in. Mine are so boring when I'm not lucid, I want exploding punches! D:<

I know what you mean, I always seem to be at school in my dreams which is really booring. Anyway, our subconscious isn't stupid, just erratic

Everything makes sense once you stop thinking about it

Yes the subconcious is "dumb", in the fact that it accepts anything that it is fed without questioning whether the situation is plausable or not. Sucessful athletes take advantage of this by going over routines in their head before they actually have to perform, thereby when they perform, they are making moves that have been rehearsed mentally many times before. The same conecept can be used to get ahead in other areas of life.

      This is a good question.

I think it may be to do with the different sections of the brain. I'm no neurologist but I do know that there's a small part on the brain that is our survival 'bit'. If we didn't have this we would not get adrenaline and our reactions may be hindered. This part of the brain decides what to do in a dangerous situation.

Have you heard of the three Fs? I forget if it's three or maybe more, but anyway:

Imagine you're alone on a dark night, walking across a wide field with nobody around. Suddenly, the most terrifying dog you have ever seen runs at you with a roaming mouth, barking and panting.

Our brain says, "Oh fuck. I'm gonna get stripped to ribbons by this mo-fo."

Then our survival 'bit' kicks in. There are three (?) choices it has.

F number one; flee. This is obvious. Flee means leggin'-it, peggin'-it, bolting, scarpering, fucking-off and otherwise running from the danger.

F number two; fight. 'I could stand my ground and beat up this rabid mut. I'll kick his head clean off his neck and knock him out seven times before he hits the ground.

F number three; flock. This one is a less obvious one. But we do this one quite often. Similar to flee, we go to a large crowd of protection. In school, kids who are getting chased by bullies often run to the eye-line of the teachers so their persuers will not try anything. If you were being followed by a freaky old man weilding a knife you would probably go to a crowded place where you would feel safer.

I'm not saying that while we are asleep the only active part of our brain is the survival 'bit', but I'm just saying that at times, our mind forgets about everything else to concentrate on one thing. What that 'thing' is during our sleep is not surely understood yet but many scientists believe sleep is a learning process. We perhaps simulate strange situations to learn, whiel we sleep. Just like I told you a freaky old man with a knife might be following you.

That's my theory anyway. And, by the way, if a dog does ever run at you, do F number four (which I only just remembered). Freeze. Stand still and he'll lose interest faster than a [insert witty remark here].

Thanks for all that info guys. I especially liked that three F thing that Super Duck said, it makes a lot of sense to me. So i guess a way to practice this more is to just keep sort of running it in my head like Boosted said. I'll give it a try.
