There seems to be this idea that in order to reach the dreamstate that you must have sleep paralysis and be in an REM state.
No. That is wrong. On my lunch breaks at work, if I have any leftover time, I go take a 10 minute nap. Most of the time, if I'm relatively tired, I fall asleep and begin to dream almost immediately. It's not REM. I'm definitly not experiencing sleep paralysis, hell, half the time if it's a really active dream, I'll physically trigger movement in my physical body, and eventually that takes me out of the dream. That however does not happen at night. I never move my physical body, telling me I am paralyzed.
It seems to be pretty confusing to people just getting into this whole thing. There seems to be this idea that lucid dreaming is only possible at certain times. Of course I'm not accusing anyone of saying that, but even last year when I joined, I got that impression. That only early in the morning, or after a specific amount of sleep (WILD for the most part) but that's not true. You can have a lucid dream anytime you can dream, and you can dream anytime you go to sleep, it's up to you to remember.
Peace.
