      Waking Life Versus Dream

Background: I am in love with one of my best friends. Have been for a few years. We have a weird relationship in which he is basically like my boyfriend except we dont have a very physical relationship. Just holding hands and stuff sometimes. We never talk about it but the rest of our group always comments on how we should just hook up already. So basically he likes me too but its too weird because we are so close. He is always really protective over me when i talk to other guys, but gets weird if I try to kiss him.

Anyway lately I have been having dreams where he keeps trying to get with me. Not like he forces himself on me entirely but it is unmistakable that he is interested in a physical relationship with me in the dreams. He gets really grabby and clingy and in the dreams I am just disgusted and fustrated by him. I push him a way but he is relentless. It is not aggressive like rape or anything. I am confused because in in my dream he acts towards me how I would want him to in real life, but in my dream it is not what I want at all.

Is my subconscious telling me something that I am not acknowledging? Has anyone experienced such a juxtaposition in their waking and dream lives? Any insight on this issue?

I hope i explained this well. Its my first post.

As for your relationship I think you two should have a serious talk... Just find a good place and time to do this and tell him how you feel about him and ask him how he feels about you and does he want to be a friend or something more?

As for the dreams... Dreams don't always show your wishes and expectations but also you fears and frustrations. So you shouldn't really pay too much attention to them, nor should you be looking for signs in them.

Personally I have a line between dreams and waking life. As I go to bed I go to another world and whatever happens there doesn't matter, they are dreams. I had my share of weird dreams as well but like I said, I don't let them affect my waking life.

As for the real-life situation: Obviously there is something holding him back and causing him to be in this relationship-denial. Who knows what it is; it may be something about himself that he is insecure about, or it may be something else, but if you don't ask him, you'll probably never know.

As for the dream situation: I imagine you are playing out a wish-fulfillment fantasy, but you resist his advances because you suspect that he is not being sincere. Somehow your subconscious doesn't want to fall for the "trick" of him wanting a relationship, which he obviously doesn't in real life. Alternatively, your subconscious may realize the you might lose him as a friends if you pushed things too far in real life, so it holds you back in the dream as a warning.

Advice for the real life situation: Fforce the situation by going out with other guys. He'll make up his mind then. The dream situation will take care of itself.

      P.S. to DreamViews!
