If you're having trouble with dream recall

I noticed if I go to bed and sleep for a straight 5+ hours I will have trouble recalling my dreams.

      but

then i also noticed if I take an hour nap 3-4 ( I haven't tried any other length of time tho) hours before going to bed I'll have a much easier time recalling dreams. Maybe it's just me.

When I tried to go to bed early I wouldn't be able to stay asleep and I would wake up after the first hour/hour and a half and wouldn't go back to bed until 3-4 hours later and that's when I realized I could recall 4-5 dreams from a TOTAL of 6ish hours of sleep (last 2 hours lost due to having classes). The B6 didn't seem to help either and that's when I fell asleep at first for 5+ hours.

I figured maybe someone is having trouble with recall and maybe this could help

I'm not sure, but I noticed this pattern with me so I'm guessing it may work for someone else. Sometimes i'll just remember my dream out of no where.

It is because if you wake up at the wrong time you don't remember the dream. My 4th grade teacher studied dreams.

I took a nap last day, and i often do.
I recalled 3 dreams and i didn't set the alarm or anything like that.
