Angry Took me 4 hours to fall asleep last night...

I went to bed around 10pm last night, watched a tiny bit of tv and TRIED to get to bed.

I lay there, and my mind keeps thinking of random things, and I try to clear my head and sleep, I ALMOST drift off to sleep a few times.

So a few hours fly by, I look at the clock, and it says 1:30....and I had to get up at 6:30 for work as usual

so im running on 5 measley hours of sleep....but for some reason I don't feel sleepy one bit.....hmmmmmmmmmmm

any ideas as to what causes you to think too much at bedtime, my mind was racing literally. I couldn't just like stop thinking....Then I was getting nervous thinking I would not be able to fall asleep and I got all sweaty and just annoyed that I couldn't sleep.

gah, that was BRUTAL......benadryl tonight for sure.
I would rather die on my feet then to live on my knees.

For me I takes longer to fall asleep if I try and keep my head clear.

Just let your mind wonder and think about random things. I don't fight it and I fall asleep rather quickly. Well, works for me anyway.

      Hi,
Yep. The exact smae thing was happening to me. I new I had to get to sleep because I needed to work but couldnt. I fixed the problem for good and for all by concentration on my breathing and everytime I exhaled I would imagine my body more relaxed. Basically youll be focusing on breathing and relaxing every muscle with every exhale. This solved my not sleeping problem for good.

I tried that breathing thing last night and it EVENTUALLY worked after 3 hours...god, NO more naps after coming home from work.

that nap earlier in the day totally killed my tiredness

did you make sure to concentrate on the relaxing muscles AND the breathing. Cause if you just do only the breathing part it wont work.
sometimes I try and speed it up by concentrating on relaxing all muscles when breathing in and breathing out.

Sometimes the mind is just busy. You said that you tried to clear your mind, how did you go about doing that?

Here is my method that has never failed me or anyone else that's used it. Takes about 15 minutes. http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=46367

I've had nights like that, where my mind is just turning and turning, and I cannot fall asleep. It usually happens when I'm stressing about everything at once. It's the most frustrating thing. When I do fall asleep, it's half an hour before I need to be up.

Good luck, tonight. Hope you can get some sleep.
