      What's up with dream mirrors

They usually show you as something that you are not. Is it just random or is it how you view yourself?

I've heard so many different things about mirrors in dreams, and I've taken quite some time to explore them myself. I've noticed that my reflection is accurate or fairly close to accurate, minus some "wavy" distortion from time to time. I can, however, manipulate my reflection (and that of my surroundings) intentionally, if I so choose.

Now touching the mirror and crossing its plane is a different story...

incidentally, looking in mirrors on LSD is almost identical to looking into a mirror while dreaming.

The last time I looked at myself in a mirror in a dream, I was amazed because my eyes were purple instead or green. It was more of a picture than a relfection because I could move but my face stayed the same on the mirror.

I think the reason mirrors have so many varied and interesting properties is that, in real life, mirrors are the only 2-dimensional object that you can look into and see a full 3-dimensional scene (although just recently some companies have begun to develop 3d autostereoscopic tv's). It's this intuitive idea that this whole 3d world is enclosed in a 2d plane that can lead to things like mirror portals and whatnot.

Usually in dream mirrors I see an evil version of myself. It usually scares me, so I started using doors instead of mirrors.

I don't remember looking at a mirror in a regular dream, but in lucids when I look in a mirror my image usually looks like me, but my eyes are closed - that'll mess with your head in a dream, if my eyes are closed how am I looking at my eyes being closed

sometimes its something you wish you were, other times being what you are, and sometimes nothing but a big blurry blob

The only time I have seen myself in a mirror in a dream, I asked myself a question which is still unanswered to this day. Nothing overtly freaky.

However staring in a mirror on lsd?? Whoa that's a whole other ball game! lol

The only time i have ever came across a mirror was in a nightmare I didn't see myself in the reflection but saw a shadowy figure flicker across the view it was showing of my hallway. This was a fairly odd nightmare because it was almost as if I was watching myself go through it from a higher perspective. Like my eyes were viewing it all happening from the ceiling. (movie dream ftw >.<)

Last night and I saw myself in a mirror, I was laughing hysterically. I had NO neck, a unibrow, and my arms were twisted the other way around. From laughing so hard, I almost pulled myself out of the dream, and I did.

same for me...seeing myself in a dream mirror usually involves incorrect and even unsettling features. sometimes, long hair (which i don't have), falling out teeth, non-human eyes, etc.
