The Man of My Dreams, literally...
Yes, corny post topic.
I return after a 6-month hiatus (and little to no lucid dreaming) to ask for guidance after a dream that's left me confused and embarrassed. You'll see why.
Last night, I had an extremely vivid dream. It's not uncommon for me to have pretty realistic dreams, but it was more tangible than any other, almost like my lucid experiences. I was walking along a beach with many people when I met a young man, my age, and as cheesy as this all sounds, I instantly fell for him.
I've had dreams in which I've been with other guys, and with my boyfriend, but they've never been vivid. I felt my cheeks flush and my heart quicken, and I felt like my entire life had led up to our moment of meeting. I felt so attracted to him, I followed him around like a magnet. (This is unbearably embarrassing to type out.) It sounds funny, but unfortunately it's true. I spent the rest of the dream chasing after him and his flirtatious eyes, his smirk that drew me deeper into his clutches.
At one point, my brain interjected, asking about my boyfriend. I told myself he was so far away, and this wouldn't be a big deal. I've never had a single waking thought like that in my life. In my dream, I felt like if I let this man slip through my fingers, I would die cold and lonely. The dream me imagined myself laying against his warm chest, alone together in the sand in a tent, not doing anything remotely sexual, but just enjoying being together.
The dream ended anticlimactically - he invited me to stay in his tent (as I learned he was camping on the beach like many others), and we flirted back and forth. His tent got flooded by the high tide and somehow, he disappeared as the scene changed to the next day. I only briefly remembered talking to him about the situation (there were only my cousins on the beach at that time), but that was all. I woke up extremely dissatisfied and longing to be held in his arms.
A little background about me: I've been going out with my boyfriend for over a year, and I have never had a single thought about any other guy, nor have I cheated on a guy in my life. Our relationship is still strong, and we went out for a short lunch date on Friday between classes. I haven't felt emotionally neglected by him (at least, not since a few months ago) and I'm generally happy with the way things are in our relationship. It's really confusing and almost makes me feel ashamed that I'd have this kind of dream.
It also makes me feel silly when I wish I could see him again tonight, properly talk to him, clear up the whole mess with a kiss or two. I know I'm not the only one out there who's met a dream character and has been, well, extremely attracted to them.
I'm trying either DILD or FILD tonight to see if I can induce something, but in the meantime, anyone have any thoughts / ideas / comments?
