      strange recurring dream

I have this dream that I'm in my bed sleeping but somebody is holding me down. I know I'm dreaming but for whatever reason I can not control anything in these dreams. I would assume it wasn't a dream and just a stage between sleeping and being awake. but there are times I while struggling with what ever is holding me down I hit my dresser and other things that do not actually happen. Last night was the most dream like scenario because this time I was in my old house and I actually seen other people while being held down.

I try to use all my muscle to get up but I am paralyzed and when I do wake up my heart is racing. I have noticed the dreams tend to happen when I go to sleep and I'm not really tired but kinda force myself to sleep.

You're probably going through what is called sleep paralysis. Your body enters this each night as you fall asleep, but you rarely notice it because you become unconcsious as you drift off to sleep. This sleep paralysis can make your body feel completely paralyzed so that no part of you is movable. The fact that there are people in your dream that are holding you down is probably just your mind coming up with an explanation for why you are unable to move your body. It's also easier to induce sleep paralysis when you're not as tired I find, because you can force your body to sleep, but you'll stay consciously awake and aware of the paralysis that overcomes your body. Hope this answers you question

yes it does thank you. I'm surprised how often I have the dream nearly a weekly thing. But i guess frequently forcing myself to sleep could be the answer.
