      Question Perfect dream journal

      Hi

I've been using MS Word for recording my dreams but after several months I'm becoming more and more upset about its usability - it's difficult to find a particular dream and I can't group my dreams into categories, because I want to keep the chronological order.

Luckily, I'm a programmer and I decided to write a more specialized application that would take care of it all. It's going to be simple, light, genious, nice-looking and generally dedicated to people from Dreamviews (I created my account today but I've been reading these forums for months and I love the community!). And obviously it's going to be free.

I already have something that could be called an alpha version, but I'd like to collect your ideas! What would a perfect dream journal look like?

Here are the features that I've come up with:
» calendar with lucid and non-lucid dreams marked on it
      » statistics
      » tags
      » pictures
» some kind of a place / dream character database (works like tags)
» publishing dream to your Dreamviews DJ if you've got one (with all the formatting done automatically)

If you could add something to the list, it would be great!

I thought about doing something like this as well. I'd be happy to help out if you need a hand. What are you planning on developing this in? I'm very familiar with C# and moderately familiar with Visual Basic and Java. Also, I'm quite handy with SQL (T-SQL mostly, but they're all pretty similar).

Since I've been messing around with dream cartography lately (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=71018) I was thinking that maybe the program could include that in some way. Like it could keep track of locations and the connections between them and possibly even have some sort of dream map editor. Probably wouldn't be something in the first release, but just a thought of something that could be neat to add.

When you make this available, I'll be wanting it. It sounds pretty nice. ^__^

I think you've thought of everything I'd want.

That's a really great idea! Being able to sort out your dreams based on places or characters can be pretty useful.

Do you think you could make it available on Mac and Linux too? Like magical mike, I'm using Ubuntu, so I'd be grateful if your software is compatible with Linux.
