      Selling lifes

Has anyone ever had dreams where lifes were for sale? I'm just wonder how unique this theme is to my dreams, or whether it's common?

I've had a similar dream a few times so far, where I'm in a crowd of mostly faceless people and passing by what appears to be a bookstore, only once I approach it I can see it isn't really books they are selling. They are plastic cases about the general size and shape of a book, most of them with gaudy covers that change through a few preset pictures. Instead of reading them, their intended function appears to be as completely immersive virtual lifes, which can't be quit from until the reader "dies".

Last night, I dreamed I passed another bookstore, and looked inside. One entire aisle was devoted to different "books"/lifes of what looked like a grungy and frightening version of the Jetsons. I glanced at one of the animated covers and thought "no no no", and got out of there as fast as I could.

I've never had a dream like that but you're lucky. It seems like a pretty good dream sign.

Wow, pretty amazing. I never dreamt about such things. I'm always fascinated on how our mind can think about such things...A world which you choose the lifes you'll see/read/experience...

Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible.

Hi. The previous time I encountered one of these dream bookstores, it was trying to sell some middle ages lives with glizty covers of all those romantic daydreams some people have about knights and damsels and stuff. I wasn't intending to buy it, but I picked one up to take a closer look. Just the simple act of touching it somehow activated it, and it was quickly imprisoning my dream self in the dark filthy oppressive and violent world that the middle ages really were. Trying to resist it didn't seem to stop the process. All I could do was force myself awake, and even then the images followed me into waking state for a few minutes.

When this last time I passed a dream bookstore, the book's cover looked like the script-writers for BattleStar Galactica had taken the Jetsons and turned it into a futuristic world that would probably really hurt to be in.

Part of me wonders sometimes if this life I live now is somehow an illusion that was being sold as a dream book, one that really isn't nearly as good as the false advertising on the cover. Silly thought.

wauw.....that's an amazing dream. When I read about it I kinda get images of dead souls (people who died I mean) browsing through all the possible lives there are to choose from in a re-birth. Time being a dimension that can be curled and looped in the land of the dead means they are free to choose a life from any time they please, also the past.

Starry eyes.....I think I've finally found someone whos mind works even crazyer and imaginative than my own :-) Do you keep a dream journal btw?

      Very interesting dream.
I dreamed twice that some green crystal balls(fist -sized) represent life and that i can see threads of life that are like white-blue.

I do keep a journal. WhenI was beginning, it used to be faithfully. When I reached the point where all my remembered dreams would take hours to write, I cut back to just the special dreams. I had been keeping it on my computer, but earlier this year I lost everything. But I still remember all my interesting dreams, the only information that it is lost was the exact dates of when I dreamed them.

That will have to be someone else's LD goal. I don't want to go there, I can't think of any life I would want to live in this world. If I somehow survive death, I would want never to return again. Even if I had to spend an afterlife avoiding book stores.

If I can pass by a dream bookstore without tryng, others could probably find one using dream control. Just be careful, because the covers lie.

But remember...its still just dreams. Its not like you'll get stuck in another life that you choose....eventually, you'll wake up ...and smell the morning coffee :-) I think the cool thing about dreams is that it feel like you're entering another world with all these other dimensions that you are free to explorer in any way you wish.....cuz in the morning you'll always be right back in the real world again...

haha kinda-off topic but i agree~! its almost like your dreams are a game and when you wake up its like hitting the "reset" button! an go back to the way your life was before you dreamed you ate your house or fell off a cliff. sometimes i wonder which is reality- dreams or what we take for granted as reality? what if reality is a dream and dreams are reality? what if we are all just DC's in someone's dream all interconnected but different- a collective unconscious. OR ive always thought what if im in a coma and my whole life was just a dream an one day i woke up an i was a completely different person with a completely different life. you know? anyways BTW do you ever become lucid in these dreams starry eyes?

mariamay, I see now that you only brought up the subject of dead souls and acted as though you thought they were real, in order that someone might grant you that in their replies to you and give you material to rationally dismiss. Like how in your own "dreams come true" thread, you started out by making it sound like you thought your own dream came true, but quickly turned to dismissing others who agreed with you that it was possible. I will not make the error of walking into your verbal traps anymore.

Skydreamer707, technically I was lucid, as I usually am in at least 2 or 3 dreams a night. It's not super-power quality lucidity most of the time though. It's usually "yes, I know this isn't waking reality and technically I'm dreaming" and I can manage to think and react with free will and can remember it all later.

Some of my lucid dreams really are the special enjoyable or at least interesting dreams that most people associate with LD, and those are the ones I might actually talk about. But a lot of my LDs are just dull and boring and no longer even worth writing down.

Whether the "lifes on sale" dreams are as real as mariamay would like me to claim so she can dismiss me, or whether they are purely a dream, they still somehow carry a lot of impact all the way into the waking state. They don't let go so easily. It's not a thing I would be willing to voluntarily do. But since there are so many experienced LDers here, maybe they and she can recreate dreams like this for themselves.

No I brought up the subject because its a dream that has always somewhat haunted me. Starryeyes....have you ever lost a loved one shortly after draming they'd die? I'm guessing not but if you had....you'd know just how guilty it would make you feel if you were to truly believe that the dream was a "message" from beyond somehow. Because then it'd be my fault my fiancee died...wouldn't it? Since I was given a 2 week advance warning....I could have stopped it from happening by listening to the dream and gone right back to the states. So by at least signing a certain amount of doubt and sceptisism to my dream back then.....I'm also assigning big doubts to that guilt. Can you even begin to imagine my feelings concerning this dream from hell for MANY YEARS after having it ??? I'm guessing you've given this aspect just about no thought at all......jugding from the post you just wrote. ...unless you wrote it in atempt to actually try to make me feel guilty for his death after all....which would just mean you'd be a plain cruel person.

And no, I'm not trying to make you claim anything. All I said was that you will wake up fore sure every morning...is that wrong? Havent you woken up every morning so far throughout your whole life ? You must have...or you wouldn't be here posting on this forum.

And one last thing -I am not an experienced Lucid dreamer, what on earth gave you that idea ??? I have only had a few lucid dreams...which most of mother earths population have tried. I would just like to learn more about it and more about having them and in the end, maybe controling them. So that mayber some day...down the line....I can choose to have a dream about....say dead people......and have the experience of seeing, talking to and hugging a lost loved one.

Damm people like you just piss me off when you assume a shitload of crap and in the process of being all insulted by the assumed crap....you just don't give a flying f*** about very sensitive issues in other peoples lives!

and one more thing (yeah you really pushed my red buttons here!) ....you might feel rightfully sensitive about comments on your dreams and wheather or not they actually were visions from the future (personally I dont believe that fate is pre-written many many years in advance cuz that would mean our actions and choices in life dont mean squat since they were pre-destined either way so that DOES give me a big dilemma personally when it comes to dreaming 20 years into the future, regardless of who has the dreams) .....but I'm just as rightfully VERY VERY sensitive about my fiancees way to early passing and the nightmare of a dream I had about it two weeks before it happened. I'm not just being sensitive about a dream....I'm being sensitive about a death in my very real life -a death that changed my life forever and it wasn't for the better!
