Thread: Video game influenced dreams?

I used to have this kind of dreams when I was playing a lot of FPS games (mostly Counter Strike, COD 4 and COD 5). I was doing it for about 5 hours each day, and almost every dream I had was about these games.

I stopped playing games about 4 months ago and after about a week I also stopped having these dreams. It's good because they started to really annoy me.

LMAO. I find it hilarious that there's a post here about halo dreams. I've had two halo dreams so far where I was actually inside the video game. I also had a Rainbow Six dream lmao. I was lying on my bed in the dream and I was playing the game with my mind, and there was no screen and no controller. It was mad weird.

Many of my dreams pattern themselves after CoD missions. In fact, my most recent lucid did, even though it was only a microsecond of lucidity as my alarm clock rang.

When I was younger, I used to have dreams which were from the point of view of Link in OoT. Other than that, video games don't intrude so much on my dreams.

Yes, several times. I dreamed sometimes of playing or being a character myself.
I usually play fighting games and when I have dreams about them they are very active.

This night i dreamed about being inside Team Fortress 2, with pyros chasing me :O

i played rainbow six last night before going to bed, and i dreamt about being in a warehouse that looked like an FPS level and i was using a laser gun to blast aliens/this thing with tentacles... it was pretty sweet... such a foggy recall though :-\ i wish i remembered exactly what happened

Yeah, the other night I had a dream I was in the game, Call Of Duty World at War. My perspective would change from first person, to third person.

Anyone else find movies can have similar effects? Last night I watched terminnator 4. then went straight to bed. I remember I had a dream about terminator, but don't recall any specific details.

I've had several dreams relating to "America's Army".

Like for example I was rushing south and came up to a guy. I rushed into the building and shot him. He was laying there on the ground(unlike the game) dying but begged me not to finish him off. So I didn't, lol.

I have had some great adventures running around and killing.

Oh sweet so it's not just me having these dreams! Pretty fun aren't they? The dream where I was in Battlefield 2142 was by far the most intense. I was fending off bots, setting up sentry-bots, using futuristic weapons and all sorts. It was great!

I had three game-related dreams but I wasn't in them. I was playing the games lol

Lol you were playing soccer in your dream? I really like those games but my buddy hates them because there's so much back and forth and not much scoring.

Wouldn't it be great to fly around shooting people? I guess studies have actually shown that people who consistently play video games are more likely to dream lucidly. Something to do with the extra concentration to detail for extended periods of time.

I think if you consistently do/play/watch/read anything you will be more likely to dream about those things and more likely to dream lucidly. Your mind gets particularly engulfed in video games, I know when I get "addicted" to one for a while, it is all I think about, I can't wait to get home to play. Same goes for a good book. So yes, playing a lot of video games and perhaps telling yourself your dreaming (and RCs) while playing could really help one get lucid.

But dont' play tooooooo much

Before I gave up gaming I had the problem of dreams immitating games I had played. That's one of the reasons I gave it up. Ordinarily my dreams can do a lot better than any game, and it was annoying to have my dreams downgraded to the level of a game.

I've had dreams of being awake in the future, after 2029 or so, and trying some of the awesome games I saw. And having people snicker at me for how bad I did.

Dude I know right? Playing the game is scary enough, living it would be terrifying.

Lol, I have them to. Infact I am writing this in the morning and I just woke up from a dream where I was pressing E on objects lol (I play to much Garrys Mod).

Yeah , well I dreamed once that i was playing COD2 on cod5 map.
I could see the HUD ( bullets , minimap ,etc.. ) It was great I pwned them all and then I left on 1 bullet and done headshot , and someone killed me and I woke up

I always dream about a game that I just get and become obsessed with. Most of the time it's just boring, like dreaming about playing the game or something.

Holy crap, man...are first-person shooters the only games anyone ever plays anymore? Everywhere I go, it's Half-Life this and Half-Life that, F.E.A.R. this and F.E.A.R. that, Call of Duty this and Call of Duty...heh heh...DOODY...

Am I the only one quite nerdy enough around here to have dreams involving RPGs?

lol last night i had two video game influenced dreams, in one of them i was actually inside diddy kong racing just driving around. i think my mom gave me the car. and i was just going around all these crazy levels and there were these parts where i'd land on this platform and get launched a distance of like 50 feet and fly to another spot. and there were these huge snowy mountains in the level where there were these giant video game penguins (for anyone who played mario 64, they were the same as that penguin you race in the first snow level) and i would get points if i knocked them over. it was pretty bad ass.

in another dream i had last night, i was playing xbox at my friends house. except the controllers all looked different, a lot cooler. one of them was like a high tech upgraded version of the retro NES controller, and the one that I had was just like a cooler, glowing version of the 360 controller. When we turned on the XBOX instead of a 3d game, old school street fighter came on, and i was like did you get that from xbox live arcade? and my friend was like nah it came free with xbox live. I was that guy with the blonde crew cut and i just button mashed and i was kicking everybody's ass. the weird thing is four people were playing at the same time so it was kind of like super smash brothers except with street fighter characters and moves.
